The Role
We are currently seeking a dynamic and results-driven individual to join us as a Sales Manager and take ownership of our Ford account. Ford is our 2nd largest customer in North America, but we believe there is an opportunity to strengthen and grow the partnership; that is why this role has been created!
The Sales Manager will be primarily responsible for managing the sales and profitability of assigned accounts by directly influencing relevant internal and external commercial activities. The product line includes a variety of acoustical, thermal, and interior-related automotive parts.
The Sales Manager will collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, and Program Management to create and implement strategies for maximizing current business and obtaining new business. You will take a leadership role in coordination of new business quotations and make an impact by bringing your positive attitude, strategic thinking, and innovative approach toward customer satisfaction.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee sales and commercial management for programs of assigned customer accounts
- This includes but is not limited to RFQs, engineering changes, contract management, documentation of customer-owned tooling, customer portal management, VA/VE activities, capacity management and negotiations, mentorship of plant employees new to the customer, etc.
- Articulate a clear understanding of global industry market trends, competitor position & strategies, and customer development trends
- Represent the business unit in a professional, positive manner
- Develop and deploy customer interface strategies (points of contact, frequency) and build strong rapport with key decision makers
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, and Program Management to create and implement strategies for maximizing current business and obtaining new business
- Develop and deploy comprehensive customer strategies that improve the profitability and growth of assigned accounts
- Work in conjunction with sales management to deploy comprehensive pricing strategies that are market driven, based on value provided to the customer and competitive alternatives
- Responsible for the development, execution, and leadership of New Business Opportunity (NBO) plans, tracking and recording progress toward sales objectives with regular reporting to Business Unit Management
- Monitor program launch activities to confirm change management is properly executed internally and externally, ensuring program commitments are achieved through launch & series production
- Take ownership of total customer satisfaction, monitoring performance on key supplier metrics and pursue corrective action plans as appropriate.
- Develop sales forecasts and monitor market trends throughout the year for use in forecast adjustments
Background / Skills
- Experience performing duties similar to those listed above would be a great start!
- Must have sales experience in the automotive industry (in this case, working for a supplier with Ford as a customer)
- Results-focused and solution driven
