Slide AI
AI slide output is often brittle, static, and difficult to edit. Teams need a reliable way to turn structured ideas, data, charts, and visuals into decks that are consistent and ready to present. This role is to build a hosted deck-as-code platform where humans and agents create specifications that compile into editable, validated presentations.
What You'll Build
- A prompt and structured-brief intake flow that produces a deck outline and specification.
- A deck compiler that produces multi-slide output with data-bound charts, math, and generated images.
- A browser editor backed by validation and repair checks for layout, text, connectors, charts, math, and images.
- Presenter, publish, and share flows, plus a CLI or plugin for agent-created decks.
What You'll Do
- Own the product across planning, compilation, editor state, validation, repair, presentation, and publishing.
- Work with AI Fund and users to define pilot scope, success metrics, and the MVP cut line.
- Design the path from prompt-assisted drafting to agent-driven deck creation while keeping every generated deck editable and inspectable.
- Make decisions about latency, layout validation, repair rules, and rendering reliability so generated decks are trustworthy enough to present.
- Work with AI Fund's build team on product wedge, technical risk, and the path from pilot to a broader deck-authoring platform.
What You Need
- Strong backend and full-stack engineering with experience in compilation, rendering, document processing, browser editors, or parsers.
- Demonstrated experience building GenAI authoring workflows with tool use, guardrails, evals, and feedback loops.
- Product judgment for human-in-the-loop automation where generated work remains editable, reviewable, and reliable.
- Ability to iterate with early users and translate ambiguous feedback into working product decisions.
- You know how to use AI coding assistants and modern AI tools to accelerate implementation without surrendering engineering judgment.
- US work authorization. We are unable to sponsor visas for this role.
Helpful But Not Required
Experience with presentation tools, design tooling, layout engines, or collaborative editors.
Experience with data visualization, chart rendering, image generation, or publishing pipelines.
Founder or founding engineer experience shipping a zero-to-one developer or productivity product.
Who This Is For
A builder who wants to turn AI slide generation from static output into an editable, structured authoring workflow.
Someone who sees reliability, validation, and real presentation workflows as the hard product problems.
What To Know Upfront
- This is a 12-week, full-time, on-site residency in Mountain View, California.
- Not every residency becomes a company. The goal is to pressure-test the idea quickly and honestly with real users and customers.
- You will be building an AI Fund idea, not bringing your own startup idea into the program.
- The process typically includes a Builder Event or equivalent working conversation, then a 48-hour Builder Challenge, then panel review with AI Fund build leadership.
- The compensation is intentionally modest during the residency because the upside, if the idea works, is a founder-level role.
Compensation
$10,000/month for 12 weeks ($30,000 total). This is a contract role during the residency. If the build leads to a funded company, the next step is a founder-level role with meaningful equity upside.
We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans. If you would like more information about how your data is processed, please contact us.
