Iron Mountain is seeking a strategic and relationship-driven State, Local, and Education (SLED) Strategy Director to join our Public Sector team.
In this role, you will be responsible for expanding our presence across the public sector, shaping the go-to-market strategy, and building trusted executive-level relationships to drive strategic information management transformation initiatives.
At Iron Mountain, we partner with state agencies, local governments, and public education organizations to modernize how information is managed, protected, and accessed. You will play a visible leadership role helping agencies improve citizen services, operational efficiency, and student outcomes.
What You’ll DoIn this role, you will:
Strategy Development & Execution: Shape and execute the go-to-market strategy for Iron Mountain’s State, Local, and Education (SLED) business, identifying opportunities to expand market presence and deepen customer engagement.
Relationship Management: Build, strengthen, and maintain trusted partnerships with senior government leaders, education stakeholders, consultants, and cooperative purchasing organizations.
Sales & Pipeline Partnership: Partner closely with sales leadership to advance high-value opportunities from early engagement through contract award, driving pipeline growth and competitive wins.
Market Intelligence & Advocacy: Monitor legislative trends, funding initiatives, and procurement developments to identify actionable opportunities aligned with Iron Mountain’s solutions portfolio.
Brand Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with marketing and leadership to refine messaging, contribute to proposal strategies, and represent Iron Mountain as a visible industry leader at public sector events and strategic forums.
The ideal candidate will have:
15+ years of experience in public sector strategy, government relations, business development, or enterprise sales within the State, Local, and Education (SLED) market.
Strong knowledge of public sector procurement, legislation, budgeting cycles, and funding mechanisms.
Proven success building executive-level relationships with government agencies, education institutions, consultants, and strategic partners.
Experience working with or selling solutions related to digital transformation, or solution-driven services.
Excellent communication, presentation, and executive engagement skills, with experience supporting industry events and thought leadership initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
Location: Fully Remote.
