This role oversees all day-to-day transportation, warehouse operations, safety, and service execution through direct leadership of site employees. This position reports to the District Operations Manager and is responsible for meeting the goals established. This position is expected to operate and promote the core values, that include safety, product integrity and customer satisfaction.
Principle Accountabilities
- Champion a safety-first culture with all employees.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA, and company safety standards.
- Responsible for driver and warehouse staffing, training, and scheduling.
- Planning, organizing, and controlling all warehouse activities and assignments.
- Ensure that workplace health and safety requirements are met and take responsibility for the security of the building and product inventory.
- Ensure consistent execution of SOP’s, safety standards, and quality expectations.
- Own site level KPI’s including on time delivery, samsara safety score, MPG, DVIR compliance, delivery audits, inventory accuracy, and cost per mile.
- Oversee planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
- Oversee fleet operations, routing efficiency, driver performance, and DOT compliance.
- Ensure proactive management of driver staffing, training, and retention.
- Optimize miles, fuel efficiency, and asset utilization.
- Maintain strong inventory controls to minimize errors, loss, and service failures.
- Ensure accurate, efficient, and safe warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, and loading.
- Review driver logs, DVIR’s, and delivery audits.
- Partner with other departments to resolve escalations and improve service reliability.
Position Qualifications
- Experience working in a warehouse or in transportation.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, fleet operations, and warehouse processes.
- Forklift certification a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and change management capabilities.
Education and Experience
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
5+ years in a warehousing or transportation
