The Opportunity

The Site Safety Manager helps define and advance the future of safety at Thermo Systems. In partnership with Corporate Safety, this role is responsible for leading all on-site safety efforts while ensuring alignment with corporate standards and project-specific requirements.

What You’ll Do

Safety Leadership & Strategy

  • Partner with Corporate Safety to ensure alignment with company-wide safety initiatives while meeting site-specific goals
  • Lead all on-site safety efforts, ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA, client requirements, and internal policies
  • Promote a culture of continuous safety improvement across all project teams
  • Provide regular safety updates to project leadership, including risks and improvement actions
  • Participate in monthly Safety Sync meetings with project and corporate leadership

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety plans and procedures across all project phases
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments; implement corrective actions as needed
  • Identify hazards related to electrical installations and commissioning; develop mitigation strategies
  • Manage the Site Safety Compliance Matrix (SSCM) to ensure full regulatory and contractual compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, client, and company safety requirements

Training & Communication

  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and subcontractors
  • Ensure all personnel are trained on safety protocols, including PPE, lockout/tagout, fall protection, and equipment safety
  • Maintain accurate documentation of training, certifications, and compliance activities
  • Communicate safety expectations clearly across internal teams and subcontractors

Incident Management & Reporting

  • Lead incident and near-miss investigations, determine root causes, and implement preventative measures
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all safety-related incidents
  • Prepare reports and communicate findings and recommendations to leadership

Field Execution & Oversight

  • Manage the Daily Hazard Analysis (DHA) program to ensure full participation and compliance
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure adherence to safety standards and provide oversight of their activities
  • Oversee safety during commissioning, including electrical safety and equipment startup
  • Ensure toolbox talks and JHAs are conducted and documented regularly

Emergency Preparedness

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for site-specific risks, including electrical incidents and fire
  • Ensure teams are prepared to respond effectively to emergencies

What We’re Looking For

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a safety management role, preferably in electrical, construction, or commissioning environments
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E, and relevant safety standards

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify improvements and implement solutions
  • Strategic, big-picture thinking with an understanding of health, safety, environmental, and business impacts
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills across diverse and global audiences
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and promote safety best practices across teams
  • Knowledge of country-specific, regulatory, and client safety requirements
  • Demonstrated professionalism, collaboration, and cultural awareness in global environments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Certifications

  • Advanced Safety Certification (STSC, CHST, GSP, ASP, or CSP) – Required
  • OSHA 30 (minimum); OSHA 500 preferred
  • NFPA 70E certification
  • First Aid/CPR/AED (or ability to obtain within first year)
  • MEWP/MEWPS instructor certification (preferred)

Travel & Work Requirements

  • Up to 25% overnight travel may be required
  • Fluent in English (bilingual preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must be fit for duty at all times
  • Authorization to work in the country of employment required
