ABM, a leading provider of integrated facility solutions, is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to support large-scale industrial construction, and mission-critical project environments. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading comprehensive safety, health, and environmental programs that promote a strong safety culture across multiple project sites.
This individual will serve as the primary safety liaison for clients, general contractors, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies, driving safe work practices in complex construction environments involving high-risk activities, multiple trades, and fast-paced project schedules.
Responsibilities- Own and administer the site/regional safety, health, and environmental program including written programs, policies, and procedures that meet or exceed ABM standards, client requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Review project safety plans, perform field audits, incident investigations, safety meetings, and corrective action follow-up.
- Review and approve Job Safety Analyses (JSA), Activity Hazard Analyses, LOTO procedures, permits, and other pre-task planning documents.
- Direct incident response, investigation, and root-cause analysis; ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Manage workers’ compensation and injury case management in partnership with HR and Risk Management.
- Maintain continuous improvement of OSHA recordkeeping programs.
- Track, analyze, and report leading and lagging safety indicators.
- Develop and deliver training content and ensure regulatory and client training requirements are met.
- Enforce policy, recognize desired behaviors, and provide coaching, set expectations, and performance management support.
- Manage the safety budget, PPE, training, and equipment inspection/certification programs.
- Skilled in directing activities and operations of others, including achieving hazardous situation resolution.
- Interface with OSHA and other regulatory agencies and lead responses to citations, variances, and requests for information.
- Five or more years of progressive safety experience, preferably in construction, manufacturing, cleanroom, semiconductor, or mission-critical environments.
- Experience supporting complex clients and projects with a focus on compliance and operational excellence.
- 300 logs, training records, and other compliance requirements spanning federal and state regulations.
- OSHA 30 certification required; OSHA 500/510 authorized trainer, CHST, ASP, or CSP strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations including 29 CFR 1910 and 1926 and related standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Education:
- BS/BA in Safety Management, Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health Technology, or a related field. On-the-job work experience.
