Site Reliability Maintenance Engineer

This is an exciting new position meant to be a key player in our newly created Reliability Program. The role responsible for identifying and managing reliability improvements to steel producing equipment and facilities, minimizing downtime, and ensuring operational efficiency through predicative and preventative maintenance programs. The Reliability Engineer position is located at the plant will report to the Preventative Maintenance Engineer designated to each location.

This position is available at three different locations - Dunkirk, NY, North Jackson, OH, and Bridgeville, PA. 

Responsibilities

· On a regular basis, will access and search the CMMS (Maximo) and other equipment databases for information as needed

· Analyzes and updates engineering standards based upon equipment failure data and lessons learned

· Is able to work independently on special initiative projects under the direction of the Corporate Preventative Maintenance Engineer.

· Leads or participates in Equipment Criticality Assessments, Critical Spares Analyses, and Root Cause Analyses, FMEA

· Provides technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating equipment reliability and design improvements to meet its intended or existing service conditions 

· Works with Engineering Department to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations.

· Periodically travel to other USAP sites to benchmark reliability initiatives and develop best practices.

Skills

· Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, and hydraulics - specifically in a heavy industrial setting.

· Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex equipment issues.

· Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records with minimal direction. 

· Ability to collaborate effectively with others and work cross functionally with other departments.

· Accurate and meticulous record-keeping.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate to different locations.

· Prior experience in a maintenance or engineering role with specific steel industry experience.

· Strong knowledge of and adherence to safety policies and procedures.

Experience

· 5+ years heavy industrial or manufacturing – Steel making experience preferred

· IBM Maximo EAM preferred

· Reliability centered maintenance experience

Education

· B.S. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or relevant, equivalent education.

Skills Required

  • 5+ years of experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or relevant equivalent education
  • Experience with reliability-centered maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems in heavy industrial settings
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex equipment issues
  • Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records with minimal direction
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate effectively in writing and verbally
  • Knowledge of and adherence to safety policies and procedures
  • Steelmaking industry experience
  • IBM Maximo EAM experience
