What is the Opportunity?
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) who is hands on and highly technical, to contribute to our ETSS production services team and help drive efficiency, reliability and automation initiatives. This role would join a Halifax/Toronto/NJ team to deliver Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, Observabilty and other emerging technology services for application teams across Capital Markets, partnering with our engineering team. The role would be to reinforce the leading example of the SRE approach in our organization, with the aim of helping other teams adopt the practices.
The role requires an open-minded individual who has development experience, is confident with GitHub and is not afraid to fail fast and pivot when needed. An individual who seeks out gaps and inefficiencies, with an "automate and measure everything" mindset to drive efficiency and productivity improvements. As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), you will participate in transforming technology in Capital Markets. This role will work close with client application development teams and partner with DevOps, Compute, Data engineering teams, within Capital Markets and across the broader Enterprise.
What will you do?
- Contribute to the vision’s execution for SRE product base (monitoring, alerting, self-healing, reliability testing)
- Contribute to functional and non-functional reviews of all production bound SRE solutions (performance, security, maintainability, compliance, change management).
- Contribute to transformation by continuously looking for ways to automate existing processes.
- Contribute with the team through execution of the SRE roadmap.
- Track, audit, monitor and implement on technical work streams.
- Support technology currency (server patching, certificate renewal, compliance, etc.) with keen eye on automating opportunities.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have;
- An engineer mindset and experience with production class delivery
- Strong sense of ownership / drive
- 3+ years of experience in production support role, supporting multiple applications
- 3+ years of experience in Linux and good knowledge of server/networking/storage infrastructure
- 3+ years of experience in Kubernetes and Containers
- Hands-on experience with DevOps CICD tools e.g. GitHub, Jenkins, Ansible
- Familiar with releasing/maintaining cloud solutions
- Computer Science degree or equivalent.
Nice-to-have;
- Practical development experience
- Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies, e.g. Scrum, Kanban
- Experience with ElasticSearch and Kibana stack
- Experience with Prometheus and Grafana stack
- Experience with a public cloud technology, i.e. Azure, AWS
- Experience building or supporting distributed applications
