Job Description:
The Site Project Engineer is responsible for leading the planning, design, and execution of capital projects that enhance workplace safety, quality/food safety, asset health, productivity, and sustainability.
The Site Project Engineer deploys engineering know-how to successfully deliver projects, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives.
This role collaborates cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Quality & Food Safety, Health, Safety & Environment, and Regional Engineering to safely deliver assigned projects on time, within budget, within scope, and in compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
What are we looking for?
Minimum:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
2+ years of experience in a comparable technical position
Proven experience in successfully managing small-scale (<$2M) capital projects
Solid understanding of engineering principles
Strong planning, communication, listening, and influencing skills
Travel up to 5% (domestically)
Preferred:
3 + years of comparable technical experience within food, beverage, pharmaceutical or related industry
Practical knowledge/experience in food processing plants, including food safety and hygienic design
Practical knowledge/experience in construction management
What would be your key responsibilities?
Project Management:
Manage capital projects (project initiation through closeout) to ensure delivery of scope, schedule, budget, and cash flow in accordance with internal project life cycle process
Conduct proper project planning, including development and alignment of project objectives, scope, schedule, and deliverables with key project stakeholders
Lead project risk assessment and implementation of appropriate risk mitigation strategies
Develop applicable procurement documentation, including Request For Quotation (RFQ)/Request For Proposal (RFP) and equipment specifications, to effectively communicate technical requirements to prospective suppliers
Review and approve technical drawings and construction submittals
Conduct proper project planning, including development and alignment of project objectives, scope, schedule, and deliverables with key project stakeholders
Manage construction, installation, and commissioning activities to ensure successful equipment/system start-up and handover to Operations and Maintenance
Track project progress, budget performance, forecasted cash flow performance, and schedule adherence throughout project life cycle
Communicate project status updates to key stakeholders
Maintain project documentation including drawings, specifications, change orders, and as-built records
Asset Management:
Identify and initiate fixed asset capitalizations in compliance with corporate finance/accounting policies
Identify and initiate fixed asset retirements in compliance with corporate finance/accounting policies
Support annual fixed asset cycle count work stream and corresponding asset tagging
Support asset conservation initiatives to ensure compliance with internal asset conservation standards/guidelines
Support site’s Asset Health Check program by providing technical inputs and risk mitigation strategies during annual audit
Workplace Safety/Food Safety Compliance:
Ensure assigned projects comply with internal engineering standards, workplace safety standards, and food safety standards, along with external regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, FDA, etc.)
Ensure project activities are executed safely, adhering to site’s construction safety program
Ensure hygienic design principles are employed in equipment selection or design
