Developed by a coalition of San Diego civic leaders and educators, High Tech High opened in September 2000 as a small public charter school with plans to serve approximately 450 students. HTM seeks a Site Manager who will coordinate the day-to-day operations of a public charter school.
JOB SUMMARY
The Site Manager is our front-facing position that greets all staff, students, and visitors who enter the building each day. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in both English and Spanish, are strongly desired.
Duties Included:
· Maintenance of student files and records in a computerized database as well as physical files.
· Answering correspondence, composing newsletters/handbooks, distributing mail, and generating reports
· Coordinating meetings and building use with the facilities department
· Maintaining master school calendar and filing systems
· Track all student attendance and report truancy or absentee problems
· Order office supplies and equipment for faculty general use; maintain office fax, copy, and other mailroom equipment.
· Greeting and providing assistance to all staff, students, parents, community members, callers, and visitors to the school.
· Answer the main phone line, provide information, take and deliver messages, and direct callers to appropriate persons.
· Assist visitors, answer inquiries, provide information, and direct them to appropriate school areas.
· Diffuse conflicts and/or difficult situations as needed in the school office. Monitor students sent to the school office for disciplinary reasons.
· Monitoring building visitors, visitor sign-in procedures, and building activities including crisis situations such as building evacuations, lockdowns, emergency situations, and safety procedures.
· Duties may include, absence reporting and hourly time clock entries and adjustments.
· Duties may include, providing back-up coverage to other positions, registering new students, assisting students in the health clinic and contacting parents/guardians as necessary.
· Perform related duties as assigned
The ideal candidate would possess the following competencies:
· Communication, both written and oral
· Fluent in Spanish and English
· Maintain records and prepare reports
· Time management, organization, and multitasking skills
· Ability to work independently
· Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Apps
· Strong communication skills, ability to use patience and diplomacy in various difficult and high-pressure situations while maintaining confidentiality
· School or education-setting experience is a plus
Education and/or Experience
· High school diploma or GED (required)
· Office management experience (preferred)
· Experience in a school/learning environment (preferred)
