Job Description

Position Summary

The Site Manager in Training (SMIT) program is a structured development initiative designed to prepare the selected candidate for future Site Manager roles within the organization. Over a one-to-two-year period, the successful candidate will gain hands-on experience across key operational areas —Safety, Maintenance, Operations, Finance, and Customer Service—while receiving mentorship and formal training to build both technical and leadership capabilities. This role requires regular travel and assignments at locations across Ontario and Quebec, as well as the ability to communicate effectively in English and French.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rotate through core site functions to understand workflows, compliance requirements, and   performance metrics.
  • Learn and apply safety protocols, environmental standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Shadow site managers and supervisors to develop skills in team coordination, conflict resolution, and performance management.
  • Participate in customer meetings and service reviews to understand expectations and relationship management.
  • Assist in budget planning, cost tracking, and capital expenditure analysis.
  • Support site-level initiatives including equipment upgrades, process improvements, and training rollouts.
  • Attend internal and external training programs focused on leadership, communication, and strategic thinking.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of operational experience in a relevant field (e.g., mobile equipment, plant operations)
  • Bachelor’s degree, college diploma, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Bilingual in English and French (spoken and written).
  • Strong interest in site leadership and operational excellence
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and compliance
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel between sites located in Ontario and Quebec
  • Willingness to relocate within Ontario or Quebec upon successful completion of the program, if required
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems and reporting tools is a plus

Preferred Certifications

  • OSHA, PMP, or equivalent safety and project management credentials
  • First Aid or EHS-related certifications are advantageous
