Flowserve is seeking an operationally driven, client-facing On-Site Applications Engineer to serve as the critical technical anchor for our active Life Cycle Advantage (LCA) partnership in Tulsa.
You will not be stuck behind a remote desk calculating formulas all day. You will be physically embedded on the refinery floor, partnering directly with plant operations, reliability engineers, and maintenance crews. While your core domain will center on maximizing the reliability and lifespan of mechanical seals, you will cross the fence line daily into complex pump optimization and fluid systems diagnostics to prevent downtime before it happens.
Core Responsibilities
- On-Site Technical Consultation: Act as the primary, face-to-face technical expert at the refinery, providing rapid-response engineering recommendations directly to the client's plant operations teams.
- System Diagnostics & Optimization: Identify root causes of equipment faults, performance anomalies, or premature component wear, translating live floor constraints into accurate engineering specifications.
- Lifecycle Contract Execution: Manage, audit, and track the ongoing Life Cycle Advantage (LCA) parameters to hit strict plant reliability, safety, and efficiency targets.
- Cross-Functional Asset Support: Lead technical focus areas on mechanical seal configurations while providing mechanical diagnostic support for rotating equipment packages (primarily industrial pumps).
- Engineering Liaison: Serve as the strategic bridge between refinery operators, reliability teams, and Flowserve’s off-site manufacturing facilities to ensure seamless turnaround executions and component supplies.
What We Are Looking For (Required Qualifications)
- Solid Industrial Foundation: Direct professional background operating within an industrial plant, refinery, chemical facility, or heavy manufacturing environment.
- Fluid Control Domain Expertise: Hands-on technical understanding or application engineering familiarity with mechanical seals and industrial pump systems.
- The "On the Spot" Polish: Strong communication skills and professional composure required to sit in a room with refinery clients, confidently delivering complex engineering recommendations on the fly.
- Education/Experience:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field is highly preferred.
- Equivalent deep practical military or industrial mechanical field engineering experience will be strongly considered.
Skills Required
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent technical engineering degree or applicable experience
- Foundational or deep operational understanding of rotating equipment dynamics, fluid systems, mechanical seals, and industrial pumps
- Ability to perform dismantle, clean, and inspect (DCI) procedures and conduct failure analyses at plant sites
- Possess or be able to obtain heavy industrial badging prerequisites including a valid driver’s license, clear background screening, and TWIC
- Comfort working in live chemical or refinery environments and navigating industrial sites/staircases
- In-plant or process-intensive site experience
