As Simulation Operations Specialist, you will Provides advanced course and event-level operational and technical support for simulation-based education by independently managing complex simulation, audiovisual, and IT technologies, leading local simulation course delivery, and supporting educators through consultative integration of simulation environments and technologies to ensure safe, reliable, and high-quality learner centered simulation experiences.


A caregiver in this role works days from 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.


A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Ensure the safe, ethical, psychologically safe, and learner-centered use of specialized simulation equipment and resources.
  • Adhere to established simulation standards of best practice and policies.
  • Identify and address safety concerns during simulation activities.
  • Independently lead complex, interprofessional, and high-stakes simulation course operations.
  • Coordinate technology, environments, and resources to support learner needs, faculty engagement, and consistent, high-quality content delivery.
  • Collaborate with educators to advise on and support the design, delivery, evaluation, and effective integration of simulation environments and technologies.
  • Independently configure and operate simulation, audiovisual, and IT technologies to support reliable, standardized, and reproducible simulation delivery.
  • Ensure optimal performance of simulation systems through routine functionality testing, updates, preventive and corrective maintenance, and vendor supported repairs.
  • Provide specialized technical support and troubleshooting for simulation technologies, applying independent judgment to resolve complex issues impacting simulation operations.
  • Apply expertise in physiology, clinical procedures, moulage, and environmental stimuli to design, prepare, and implement scenario appropriate setups that support realistic, effective, and high-fidelity learning experiences.
  • Design and implement creative and innovative technical solutions to improve realism, efficiency, and educational value of simulation technologies.
  • Monitor, order, control supply and rotate stock for simulation center labs.
  • Maintain equipment inventory and current knowledge of simulation equipment catalogs and operations manuals.
  • Identify, report, and mitigate safety risks observed during in situ simulation activities.  
  • Participate in post course debriefings and review course feedback and implement operational improvements to refine simulation delivery.
  • Provide training and education for new simulation staff on proper use of equipment and overall operations.
  • Assist department leadership with moderately complex projects; initiate or lead small projects.
  • Maintain and advance professional expertise in simulation operations and technology through ongoing development and application of best practices
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Two years of experience in healthcare simulation
  • OR two years of experience in audiovisual, IT, theater, art, or related discipline may offset experience or degree requirement
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) within three years of hire
  • SOS working primarily in surgical simulation lab may have CHSOS certification waived

  

Preferred qualifications for the ideal caregiver include: 

  • One year of healthcare simulation experience
  • Experience in a healthcare environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information 
  • Ability to move up to 85 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to work on overhead equipment
  • Ability to work in confined, darkened areas.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
