The Simulation Assisted Engineering Manager will provide leadership to a diverse technical team of dedicated engineers and scientists responsible for the design and procurement of equipment and technical services in support of New Nuclear Plant Projects and Nuclear Service Projects. This is a leadership position that manages complex issues within the plant systems design, is involved in the long-term planning, and contributes to the overall strategy of the business.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

As the Performance and Simulation Assisted Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Have ownership and accountability for the use of nuclear plant simulation tools to evaluate system designs and integrate individual system simulations together to provide a plant wide model for evaluating startup, shutdown, maneuvering, and accident response. Migrate simulation models into an ANS 3.5 site simulator for operator training.
  • Have ownership and accountability for work instructions and report standards for simulator model input specific, model development, model documentation, validation and verification of the Human/System Interface, Instrumentation, Controls and Logic, and process system design.
  • Have ownership and accountability for generating plant heat balances and guarantees for new projects. 
  • Work collaboratively with I&C, Mechanical, & Electrical systems design engineers, both internally and externally with global partner/supplier organizations to develop validation scenarios.
  • Provide technical and managerial leadership for a diverse team being accountable for on-time delivery of design products within budget.
  • Inspire, hire, coach and ensure the development of the teams technical and leadership talent/depth.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with other internal engineering team managers, business leaders, project managers and stakeholders.
  • Interface with external partners, customers, and other applicable country specific regulatory agencies, as required on technical issues.
  • Provide leadership supporting performance and program management of assigned work and ensure on-time fulfillment of engineering commitments in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, industry standards and regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Plan, organize and manage the delivery of technical activities/tasks in support of engineering deliverables.
  • Drive the design development in advanced simulated assisted engineering tools and maintain required system design documents in accordance the program/project software requirements.
  • Provide guidance and manage external resources to ensure the quality of deliverables, enable flexibility and improved cost positions.
  • Support commercial and marketing opportunities to develop new business opportunities.
  • Protect the Intellectual Property rights of GVH.
  • Support GVH initiatives, process improvement and simplification.
  • Support GVH Nuclear Energy quality requirements, including participation in design reviews, initiating Condition Reports, and responding to Corrective Actions.
  • Ensure adherence to GVH’s standards for nuclear safety and compliance.
  • Streamline, integrate and develop team technical information sharing processes across GVH and its partners to better support business through application of Lean principles.
  • Partner with business teams and present product/program strategies, technical roadmaps, risks, and recommendations to senior leads across GVH.   

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related Science or technical discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in engineering design and/or project leadership experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the nuclear industry or equivalent large scale new build experience in the power industry.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Relocation to Wilmington, NC is required.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

  • EPC experience and knowledge; specifically, power plant for performance heat balances.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $134,400.00 and $257,600.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related scientific or technical discipline
  • At least 15 years of progressive engineering design and/or project leadership experience
  • At least 8 years of experience in the nuclear industry or equivalent large-scale new-build power industry experience
