Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Section Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.
The Lab Operations Department is seeking a Section Manager to functionally lead a team of Lab Designers, supporting the SC3 IPT in Melbourne, FL. This is a dual role Section Manager (Functional Role) and Individual contributor (Program Role).
Functional Role and Responsibilities include:
The successful candidate must be an autonomous leader who can support their business requirement and provide organizational expertise that will help their team understand the T&E organization's vision and principles, build a culture that empowers and motivates individual excellence, and establish functional homeroom shared accountability for program/project performance.
Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Perform technical planning and cost and risk analyses for total systems. Section Manager responsibilities include working closely with the Department Manager and fellow section managers to implement department initiatives, ensuring successful planning and execution of program test engineering activities, collaborating with programs to satisfy staffing needs and provide operations support (incident investigations, metrics collection and analysis, etc.), setting goals and providing regular performance feedback to employees, supporting the annual salary review and promotion process, mentoring and developing the next generation of technical and project leadership, and improving and enforcing test engineering processes and procedures.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Executing the program plan with lab details
- Lead and manage a team of 12+ that designs lab hardware and test equipment for multiple labs
- Frequent contact with individuals from other departments, outside organizations to include the Customer.
- Supporting build of new benches, test sets and simulators.
- Familiarity with cost management
- Supporting integration efforts in the SILs
- Understanding lab architecture and design process from requirements to design, build and operation.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical design practices and how they flow to manufacturing
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) along with 9 years professional experience or OR a Master’s degree Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field AND 7 years of related professional experience
- Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance with full investigation in the last 6 years with the ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance.
- Experience in any of the following: Systems development experience; Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, systems architecture, Communications, Data links, mechanical engineering, Computer networks, Sensors, Avionics, COTS hardware, instrumentation systems, integration, and/or test
Preferred Qualifications:
- PLM Experience within a design suite
- Experience with T&E processes and procedures to support both management and engineering tasks at the Melbourne site
- Familiarity with current programs across NGC AS Sector
Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in STEM with 9 years experience OR Master's degree in STEM with 7 years experience
- Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance with full investigation in the last 6 years and ability to obtain Top Secret
- Experience leading and managing engineering/design teams (responsible for 12+ team members)
- Systems development or software engineering experience
- Experience in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or systems architecture
