The Leidos Innovations Center at Leidos currently has an opening for a Signal Processing Engineer to work in our San Diego, CA office with the Applied Science Division. The Applied Science Division operates at the leading edge of technology by designing, demonstrating, and deploying solutions to solve complex remote sensing problems for our Department of Defense customers. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to system development and to gain experience for an individual with interest in maritime remote sensing, physics, sensors, system prototyping, algorithm and software development, statistics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Our focus is to develop capabilities and deployable prototypes and transition those to our Defense business segment.
Primary Responsibilities.
This position involves direct support to the Principal Investigator (PI) in technical management of the team. In this role you will work with a mentor with weekly supervision and with a peer to:
- Perform data analysis, algorithm development, documentation, and provide software implementation support and test.
- Document your efforts and your findings, share your work through a software repository, ticket system, and/or wiki.
- Participate in test events at sea and in lab environments.
- Assist in taking test records, writing reports, and briefing results. Interest in maritime defense and security operations.
- Must be comfortable attending meetings with customer, other contractors and subcontractors and presenting Leidos team’s status.
Basic Qualifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering is required, primarily within Signal Processing, Physics, Electrical Engineering, and AI/ML with 2+ years of experience.
- Must be a U.S Citizen
- Must have a Secret security clearance and be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- Must be able to develop basic algorithms in Matlab or Python and have experience or training in machine learning.
- Understanding of basic signal and image processing.
- Patience to label images for training and aptitude to script or use auto labelers to aid in that process.
- Must have demonstrated prior leadership experience under stressful conditions.
- Leadership in prior roles or schooling and/or military leadership experience
- Strong understanding of mathematics and physics.
- Strong communication skills and ability to be organized and document efforts.
- A mission focused mindset motivated to aid the warfighter is desired.
Preferred Qualifications.
- Experience or education in maritime remote sensing applications.
- Experience or education in software development in C/C++.
- Experience or education in firmware development in Verilog/HDL.
- Understanding point defense of maritime strike groups, land operations, and forts.
