What You'll Do:
The sight distance trimmer assists with installing, repairing, and maintaining traffic signs, pavement markings, barricades, and warning devices while ensuring safe work zones and compliance with OSHA and City safety standards. This role is hands-on and includes outdoor work such as lifting heavy materials, climbing ladders, operating equipment, clearing brush around signs and intersections, and moving tools and supplies as needed.Essential Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Clear vegetation from around traffic signs and intersections with sight distance obstructions.
- Assist in the installation of traffic signs, which involves carrying and raising 50 pounds to head level, climbing ladders, attaching bolts, etc.
- Assist with painting traffic lines and markings, which involves carrying 50-pound buckets, using a paint roller, and using templates in a barricaded work area.
- Remove and refurbish damaged or non-legible signs.
- Remove and replace damaged poles.
- Place and remove street barricades and other warning devices requiring handling 25-pound sandbags and cones weighing up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders.
- Assist with line removal operation involving pushing and pulling a portable line grinding machine.
- Run errands, pick up, and deliver supplies and materials.
- Clean tools and equipment.
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies.
