Role Overview
We are looking for a detail oriented and analytical Should Costing Engineer to join our team. The role involves evaluating product designs, manufacturing processes, and supplier quotes to determine the most cost-effective solutions, while maintaining quality and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and analyze cost models for mechanical/electrical components, assemblies, and systems.
- Evaluate supplier quotations and benchmark costs against industry standards.
- Identify cost drivers and provide recommendations for cost reduction opportunities.
- Collaborate with design, sourcing, and supplier teams to validate costs and drive value engineering.
- Support new product development by providing accurate cost estimates during concept and design phases.
- Conduct make vs. buy analysis and support supplier negotiations with cost insights.
- Prepare detailed cost reports and present findings to cross-functional teams.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, plastics, casting, etc.).
- Good understanding of engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and cost modeling tools.
- Knowledge of CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo) is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
- Fresher to 6 years of experience in Should Costing, Cost Engineering, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE), or related fields.
- Exposure to supplier interaction and cost benchmarking preferred.
