 About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and efficient Short-Form Video Editor / Social Media Content VA to support a solo emotional wellness and parenting coach in creating and scheduling social media content.

The goal is to create a consistent content pipeline over approximately three months. The primary focus is editing and scheduling short-form videos generated from existing long-form workshop content.

The client already has established branding, content, workflows, and AI-assisted editing tools. This role is not intended for advanced or highly creative video production. The ideal VA should be able to follow detailed instructions accurately, make basic visual adjustments, work efficiently, and communicate proactively when clarification is needed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review long-form workshop videos and AI-generated short-form clips.
  • Use Opus Clip to prepare short-form content.
  • Review automatically generated clips and select appropriate/high-quality clips for publishing.
  • Perform basic editing and formatting, including:
    • Adjusting video framing and layout.
    • Selecting an appropriate cover/frame where the speaker appears visually clear.
    • Repositioning captions for readability.
    • Adjusting caption colors/styles according to the client's brand guidelines.
    • Ensuring titles, captions, and other elements are positioned correctly.
    • Checking that the speaker's face and presentation remain visually clear.
  • Avoid unnecessary B-roll or complex editing unless specifically requested.
  • Review each video for obvious quality issues before scheduling.
  • Use AI-generated transcripts, summaries, hooks, and captions where appropriate.
  • Schedule approved videos across relevant social media channels, primarily:
    • Instagram
    • Facebook
    • YouTube
  • Prepare and schedule approximately 20–30 short-form videos per content batch/month, depending on the available source content.
  • Ensure scheduled content follows the client's preferred posting cadence.
  • Report any questionable content, technical issues, or unclear instructions before proceeding.
  • Track time spent on tasks and provide accurate time estimates.
  • Follow documented SOPs and instructions consistently.

Future Responsibilities

Depending on performance and business needs, the role may eventually expand into:

  • Social media content optimization.
  • Identifying relevant/trending keywords within the client's niche.
  • Suggesting titles and topics for long-form videos.
  • Supporting growth strategies for YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.
  • Monitoring content performance and identifying trends.
  • Potentially supporting paid social media advertising/marketing campaigns in the future.

Important: Community management, replying to DMs, and responding to comments are not currently part of the role.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience with short-form video editing.
  • Experience with Opus Clip is highly preferred.
  • Experience with comparable AI video-editing tools may also be considered.
  • Strong attention to visual details and formatting.
  • Good understanding of social media video formats.
  • Ability to follow step-by-step instructions precisely.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and consistently.
  • Comfortable working with AI-generated captions, transcripts, hooks, and summaries.
  • Good judgment when reviewing visual quality.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Comfortable asking questions rather than making assumptions.
  • Reliable, proactive, and honest about progress and challenges.

Ideal Personality

The ideal candidate is:

  • Detail-oriented
  • Efficient and productivity-conscious
  • Coachable
  • Honest and transparent
  • Proactive in communication
  • Comfortable asking questions
  • Able to follow instructions without excessive supervision
  • Respectful of established processes
  • Quality-conscious without unnecessarily over-editing
  • Able to work independently while knowing when to pause and ask for clarification

Tools

Required/Preferred:

  • Opus Clip or similar AI video-editing platform
  • Instagram
  • Facebook
  • YouTube
  • Google Workspace
  • Email
  • WhatsApp
  • Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT is an advantage

The client is open to candidates using alternative tools, provided they can achieve comparable results efficiently.

Work Schedule

  • Flexible schedule is acceptable.
  • The candidate should ideally have availability that overlaps with the client's Pacific Time (PT) working hours.
  • Preferred collaboration window: approximately 8:30 AM Pacific Time onward, or another mutually agreed overlapping period.
  • The candidate should be responsive during agreed collaboration hours.

Initial Workload

The client intends to test the workflow through an initial content batch, followed by additional monthly batches depending on performance and content results.

A typical batch may involve approximately 20–30 short-form videos, with an estimated initial workload of approximately 10 hours, subject to assessment and demonstrated efficiency.

Candidate Assessment

A practical assessment is required before engagement.

The client will provide:

  • A sample video
  • Written instructions/SOP
  • Access or instructions for the relevant editing workflow

The candidate will be asked to edit one sample short-form video according to the client's instructions.

The client will evaluate:

  • Quality of the finished video
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Attention to detail
  • Visual judgment
  • Accuracy
  • Efficiency
  • Estimated time required to complete the task

Candidates should also report the actual time spent on the assessment.

The client strongly values efficiency and expects candidates to communicate if they encounter an issue or require clarification rather than spending excessive time proceeding in the wrong direction.

Success in This Role

Success means consistently producing clean, correctly formatted, on-brand short-form videos within a reasonable amount of time while following the client's established workflow and communicating proactively.
