ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, plum bob, auto level, transit, go-no-go gauge, combination square, calipers, and ruler. Cuts work piece, using powered saws, gas torch, oxi-fuel, and plasma torch. Installs or repairs decks, bulkheads, and tank linings.
Observes tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications. Prepare and inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments.
Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper. Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment. Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.
Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations. Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts. Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.

QUALIFICATIONS

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to work at heights.
- Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions.
- Must be available to work all 4 shifts, and weekends as required.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
- Must be able to work in confined and enclosed spaces.
SKILLS:
- Must have experience setting up, troubleshooting, and utilizing weld machines.
- Must have experience laying out and measuring utilizing the metric system.
- Must have experience working with blueprints.
- Must have experience working with hand tools.
- Must have experience working with overhead cranes to include safe rigging of equipment to be lifted.
