About the role.
We are seeking a trade-qualified Maintenance Electrician to join the McCain Hastings team. You will play an important role in maintaining and monitoring all onsite electrical systems and equipment.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include ensuring the maximum efficiency and availability of plant operations, executing preventative maintenance, and swiftly addressing breakdowns. You'll play a key part in fostering a strong safety culture, complying with both company and legislative standards, and collaborating across teams to support a high-performing, professional environment.
You will be working in a rostered environment, working 2x day shifts, 2x night shifts, then enjoying 4 days off.
What you'll be doing.
- Maintain and monitor all onsite electrical systems and equipment
- Execute preventative maintenance and swiftly respond to equipment breakdowns
- Conduct daily maintenance and inspection work orders utilizing SAP
- Troubleshoot and maintain PLCs, drives, and control circuits
- Participate in electrical installations, test and tag, and fabrication
- Maintain compliance with all electrical and safety standards, including LOTO, JSA, and hazard assessments
- Support, train, and develop colleagues by sharing expertise
- Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives (such as Kaizen, Six Sigma)
- Attend shift meetings and handovers, supporting seamless communication
- Complete documentation required for plant programs and quality systems
- Operate on a rostered schedule: two day shifts, two night shifts, followed by four days off
What you'll need to be successful.
- Current New Zealand electrical registration and relevant trade qualification
- Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Proven knowledge of PLC systems and expert fault-finding/problem-solving skills
- Experience in manufacturing, preferably with GMP, HACCP, and Lean Manufacturing practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated motivation to cross-train and add value across the wider business
