Position Summary:

The Aircraft Sheet Metal Technician Lead is responsible for following instructions given by the Production Manager to execute all sheet metal builds successfully. The goal is to efficiently design and manufacture components and systems that are safe, innovative, and of high quality. The Aircraft Sheet Metal Technician Lead will represent the Company and its values and will ensure that the expectations of the Company’s customers are exceeded by performing the following:
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manage daily manufacturing and assembly operations, allocating team members to balance workloads and meet tight production schedules.
2. Interpret engineering prints, schematics, and work orders to ensure the physical structure meets exact specifications and quality standards.
3. Provide on-the-job training and mentorship while strictly enforcing facility safety guidelines.
4. Help lead root-cause analyses for any structural defects.
5. Champion Lean and Six Sigma methodologies (5S) to minimize waste, optimize cycle times and improve overall floor efficiency.
6. Accurately estimate work hours and material needs for projects.
7. Capable of reading and understanding decimal scale and use of scales, protractors, and calipers.
8. Maintain documentation such as work orders in the company ERP system.
9. Ability to schedule work.
10. Experience in the proper Drilling, (proper hole sizes) Countersinking, for the installation of various rivets and hardware fasteners.

7. Possesses an extensive toolbox and experience on proper use of Air Drills, Rivet guns, Routers, Cleco pliers, Clecos, Microstop Countersinks, Rivet squeezers, pencil grinders.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma/GED
2. Minimum Six years related manufacturing and/or installation experience, or
3. Minimum five years related aerospace manufacturing and/or installation experience.
Work Environment Requirements:
1. Full-Time Position.
2. Warehouse and manufacturing environment.
Skills Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum six years related manufacturing and/or installation experience (or minimum five years aerospace manufacturing/installation experience)
- Extensive hands-on experience with air drills, rivet guns, routers, cleco pliers/clecos, microstop countersinks, rivet squeezers, pencil grinders
- Proficiency in proper drilling, countersinking, and rivet/hardware fastener installation
- Ability to read and understand decimal scales and use calipers and protractors
- Experience using an ERP system to maintain work orders and documentation
- Experience estimating work hours and material needs
- Previous experience directing day-to-day work for a small team and scheduling work
- On-the-job training and mentorship experience; ability to train other technicians
- Championing and applying Lean and Six Sigma methodologies (5S) to improve floor efficiency
- Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
- KA experience in the role; considered expert in the position
