SHEQ Advisor Darwin Terminal
Join Vopak Australia, a global leader in independent tank storage, at our Darwin Terminal. This is a critical dual-function role designed for a proactive safety professional who enjoys a balance of technical SHEQ advisory and strategic workforce development.
As a Major Hazard Facility, safety is our license to operate. You will be the site champion for safety culture, ensuring that our team and contractors are not only compliant with ISO standards and WHS legislation but are also highly competent and trained for high-risk operations.
Key Responsibilities
Site Safety Leadership: Conduct field inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure "no harm" across operations and maintenance.
Incident Management: Lead incident investigations (ICAM/Root Cause Analysis) and manage the close-out of corrective actions.
Contractor Oversight: Manage inductions, work permits, and JSA compliance for all on-site contractors.
Training & Competency: Manage the site training matrix and Learning Management System (LMS). Coordinate high-risk training (Confined Space, Working at Heights, PTW) and emergency response drills.
Continuous Improvement: Drive Vopak’s "Safety Leadership" and "Better Together" initiatives, using data trends to improve site performance.
Candidate Requirements
Industry Experience: Proven background in SHEQ/HSE roles within high-risk industries (Oil & Gas, Mining, or Chemical Manufacturing).
MHF Knowledge: Previous experience working within a Major Hazard Facility is highly regarded.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of WHS legislation, Management of Change (MOC), and Process Safety.
Systems Experience: Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and coordinating mandatory competency frameworks.
Communication: Ability to interface effectively between local terminal staff and national corporate SHEQ teams.
