This role is independent and self-directed: you will be expected to gather requirements, propose solutions, create mockups, and deliver a fully functional intranet with minimal guidance, aside from content provided by leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather requirements from stakeholders (IT, HR, Operations, Marketing, Sales, etc.) and translate them into a clear intranet roadmap.
- Architect the structure, navigation, permissions, and governance of the intranet.
- Design intuitive, visually appealing user interfaces and create wireframes/mockups for review.
- Build and configure the intranet platform using SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365 tools.
- Implement features such as news, quick links, emergency banners, search customization, employee directories, and knowledge hubs.
- Ensure mobile responsiveness, accessibility, and strong search functionality.
- Integrate the intranet with Microsoft Teams, Power Platform, and other enterprise tools.
- Establish and document governance standards (permissions, content publishing processes, ownership).
- Provide training, documentation, and support to content owners and site administrators.
- Monitor engagement and effectiveness through analytics, and continuously recommend improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Web Development, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in SharePoint Online intranet design and development (must include projects built from scratch).
- Strong knowledge of SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365, and intranet best practices.
- Proficiency in UI/UX design for intranets, including navigation, branding, and page layouts.
- Skilled in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, SPFx) for customization.
- Experience implementing permissions, roles, and security models in SharePoint Online.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects end-to-end: requirements gathering → design → build → launch.
- Familiarity with Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI for extending intranet functionality.
- Graphic design experience (Adobe, Figma, or similar) for UI enhancements.
- Knowledge of information architecture, knowledge management, and change adoption strategies.
