Build Leaders. Shape Voices. Change Futures.
Every student deserves a voice — and someone who helps them learn how to use it. As our SGA / Life Skills Specialist, you'll guide the Student Government Association, lead leadership and life skills training, and help young adults discover the confidence, accountability, and real-world skills that carry them far beyond our campus.
This is a role for a natural facilitator and mentor: someone who lights up a room, believes in student potential, and knows that the lessons learned in a student council meeting can last a lifetime.
Why Join Us? Make a Real Impact!
Job Corps is a transformative program that provides education, vocational training, and career readiness to young adults. In this role, you'll be at the heart of student life — developing tomorrow's leaders, running programs students genuinely care about, and modeling the standards that help them succeed in work and in life.
What You'll Do
Lead the Student Government Association
Supervise the SGA — maintaining communication with administration, scheduling and leading meetings, and guiding students as they develop real governance skills. Coordinate all SGA functions, administer the student welfare fund, prepare and distribute meeting minutes, chaperone student government functions, and coordinate voting activities.
Deliver Leadership & Life Skills Training
Conduct group sessions in accordance with the schedule, and participate in and lead orientation activities alongside student leadership and life skills training. Train all newly elected officers and deliver advanced leadership training that helps students grow into confident, capable leaders.
Oversee the Student Union Snack Bar
Supervise student union snack bar operators and the overall operation of the snack bar, ensuring it meets all state and local health regulations and safety requirements.
Mentor, Model & Support
Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where needed, and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions. Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps Zero Tolerance Policy, and deliver positive, quality customer service to students, staff, and other Center customers.
Maintain Accurate Records
Ensure student records and data are kept accurate and up to date. Take on other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility as needs evolve.
