Turning Space into a Transportation Layer for Earth

Who We Are:

Eras of humanity can often be defined by a dominant transportation mode - horse drawn chariots, ocean going boats, or aircraft. These were spurred by a small group of people rigorously focused on building technology to achieve faster access to more of the world.  We seek to usher in a new era of humanity defined by universal access to the whole globe free of borders and the presence of a routine way from space to Earth. To do this, we are building highly maneuverable re-entry vehicles that can loiter in orbit before precision landing back on Earth.

What You’ll Do:

As a Sewing Technician at Inversion, you will play a critical role in the assembly and manufacture of soft goods and textiles that are critical to our next-generation reentry vehicles. You will be a key member of the Accurate Landing Team, reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, Accurate Landing. In this role, you will:

  • Fabricate and assemble basic parachute system components, including harnesses, canopies, support tape, webbing, and similar soft-goods efficiently, safely, and in accordance with high quality standards.
  • Prepare raw material and fabric for production using patterns, templates and drawings. This includes pinning, marking, measuring, trimming, and other required preparation of raw materials.
  • Perform all daily routine maintenance and adjustments on sewing machines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Industrial sewing machine operation experience, operating a power driven sewing machine, threading needles, changing needles, routine maintenance, and safe operation in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with a variety of stitching, including light-duty, heavy-duty, and hand-work.
  • Ability to measure and mark fabrics and materials.
  • Pass a sample sewing test.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.
  • This position is on-site at Inversion HQ in Playa Vista, CA.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with parachute design fundamentals, including working with relevant design tooling and CAD (e.g., NX, Creo, AutoCAD).
  • Paraglider, speed wing, wingsuit, or kite design and/or practical experience.

Our office headquarters is located in Playa Vista, CA. This position requires in office presence.
