In this role, you will report to the Hiring Manager and will work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.
Location: Albany, NY/Rensselaer, NY
Shift: Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Hourly Rate: $26 - $27/hr plus mileage, parking, and toll reimbursement
Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license/CDL required
This is not a work-from-home career. The ideal employee should reside in the Greater Albany, NY area, be responsible for traveling between multiple locations, and be able to travel outside of Greater Albany, NY up to 5% of the time.

What we’re looking for
Education: High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree or undergraduate degree in business or science-related field is a plus.
Experience: 3 -5+ years of experience in Inventory control/procurement/shipping and receiving/Inside Sales,
Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Teams experience preferred
IATA, DOT, HAZWOPER, OSHA Right to Know, IMDG a plus
Forklift Certification a plus
Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation required; CDL a plus.
Prior experience with VWR/Avantor products and services a plus.

Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.
The Services Operations Specialist plays a key support role across multiple facilities and/or customer sites, primarily within their assigned geographic region. They step in to perform various job functions during periods of scheduled associate vacations, leaves of absence, unfilled positions, or emergency situations.
While their primary responsibilities are focused within a designated territory, they also serve as secondary backup, which may require travel beyond their home territory or state.

Services Operations Specialists are cross-trained in multiple job profiles, enabling them to build specialized expertise and gain broad experience across all Lab and Production service offerings.
This diverse knowledge allows them to:
Provide on-the-job training for new associates
Collaborate with Avantor site leaders to identify and implement process and safety improvements
May require future travels to customer sites.
Coordinates and leads team efforts and performs work related to customer requirements.
Works closely with management to complete projects such as Standard Operating Procedures, Scopes of Work, Standard Work, On-The-Job Training, and other assorted tasks, along with direct customer interfacing relative to job functions.
Interfaces directly with customer Point-of-Contact, purchasing directors, facility directors, and plant managers, etc., to procure lab supplies and materials.
Utilizes Avantor and customer computer systems: SAP, Inventory Manager, Chemical Manager, and/or other customer-specific applications.
Trains Avantor Lab and Production Services associates on all service offerings.
Provides SAP Support (Full customer services, credit rebills, invoice scrubbing).
Modifies and maintains quality metrics and key performance indicators.
