As an employee of the Boston Fed, you will work to promote sound growth and financial stability in New England and the nation. You will contribute to communities, the region, and the nation by conducting economic research, participating in monetary policy-making, supervising certain financial institutions, providing financial services and payments, playing a leadership role in the payments industry, and supporting economic well-being in communities through a variety of efforts. The Boston Fed is one of 12 Reserve Banks and we serve all or parts of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Essential Accountabilities:
Generally, the Sergeant position is responsible for the oversight of officers and post operations daily. This can include, but not limited to the following:

  • Conducting post checks
  • Assist in daily scheduling
  • Ensuring appropriate coverages for all posts and details, which may include the use of overtime, either voluntary or involuntary
  • Respond to incidents on property, assign and review reports in a timely fashion and evaluate and respond to requests/inquiries sent to the department via the supervisor's email box
  • Conduct daily armory checks and other administrative tasks
  • Responsible to respond and/or supervise officer's response to alarms and emergencies.


Supervision:

  • Sergeants will be required to directly supervise multiple officers, which includes conducting quarterly check-ins in addition to the mid-year and end of year evaluations for their direct reports.
  • Sergeants are responsible for the oversight of their employee's time and attendance, which requires regular attention and communication with the employees.
  • Sergeants will also handle other duties as assigned as this job description does not encapsulate every duty a sergeant may need to handle.
  • The sergeant position reports directly to the shift commander in which they are assigned.


All employees assigned to this position will be subject to FBI fingerprint/ criminal background and Patriot Act/ Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) watch list checks at least once every five years.
