Let’s not dress this up—this isn’t a role for someone who just “likes SEO.” This is for someone who lives it, breathes it, and knows exactly how to turn rankings into revenue.
At Walsh and Partners, we don’t chase vanity metrics. We build search strategies that drive leads, sales, and serious business growth. And we’re looking for an SEO Manager who can take ownership of that mission and run with it.
About Walsh and Partners
We’re a results-driven SEO agency based in Cardiff, working with businesses that want proper growth—not fluff, not guesswork, and definitely not recycled strategies from 2012.
Our approach is simple:
Clear strategy
Honest communication
Measurable results
No jargon. No nonsense. Just SEO that works.
The Role
As our SEO Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading and executing SEO strategies across a portfolio of clients. You’ll take ownership of performance, guide the team, and ensure everything we do is aligned with one goal—growth.
This isn’t a box-ticking role. You’ll be expected to think commercially, act decisively, and deliver results consistently.
You’ll be working closely with content, technical, and outreach teams, making sure every moving part is aligned and pulling in the same direction.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Performance
You’ll take full control of SEO strategy—from planning to execution to reporting.
That includes:
Developing tailored SEO strategies for each client
Identifying keyword opportunities that actually convert (not just traffic for the sake of it)
Monitoring rankings, traffic, and conversions regularly
Spotting issues early and fixing them before they become problems
SEO Managers are expected to track performance continuously and identify opportunities for improvement across campaigns .
Technical SEO Oversight
You don’t need to be a developer—but you do need to know your way around technical SEO.
You’ll be:
Auditing websites for technical issues
Working with developers to implement fixes
Improving site speed, indexing, and crawlability
Making sure everything is built with search in mind
If something’s broken, you’ll know. And more importantly—you’ll fix it.
Content Strategy
Content without strategy is just noise.
You’ll:
Plan and oversee SEO-driven content strategies
Ensure content aligns with search intent and user behaviour
Work with writers to produce high-quality, optimised content
Identify gaps and opportunities competitors are missing
Everything we publish needs to have a purpose—and that purpose is performance.
Link Building & Authority Growth
Links still matter. A lot.
You’ll:
Oversee digital PR and outreach strategies
Build high-quality backlinks that actually move the needle
Identify authority-building opportunities for clients
Keep everything clean, ethical, and effective
No spam. No shortcuts. Just solid link acquisition.
Team Leadership
You won’t be working alone.
You’ll:
Lead and mentor junior SEO team members
Review work and provide constructive feedback
Help shape internal processes and workflows
Ensure quality across all deliverables
SEO Managers are typically responsible for leading teams and mentoring staff while delivering strategic direction .
Client Communication
This is where many SEOs fall down—we don’t.
You’ll:
Speak directly with clients
Explain performance clearly (without hiding behind jargon)
Provide regular updates and insights
Build trust through transparency and results
If you can’t explain SEO simply, you don’t understand it well enough.
What We’re Looking For
We’re not interested in checkbox SEOs. We want someone who knows their craft.
Essential Skills
Strong experience in SEO (agency or in-house)
Proven ability to deliver measurable results
Deep understanding of on-page, technical, and off-page SEO
Experience with tools like GA4, Search Console, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs

Mindset
Commercially focused—you care about revenue, not just rankings
Proactive—you spot opportunities before anyone else
Detail-oriented—you don’t miss things
Straight-talking—you say what needs to be said
Bonus Points
Experience managing multiple client accounts
Background in content strategy or digital PR
Experience working in a fast-paced agency environment
