Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a System Safety Engineering Manager 2 to be located in Vandenberg, CA. Relocation assistance may be provided.

Key responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
• Own both technical and programmatic leadership for a team of ~10 FTE performing safety engineering functions
• Serve as a Work Package Lead (WPL) owning cost, schedule and earned value responsibilities
• Perform, review and approve safety artifacts and documents
• Prepare, present, and explain technical packages at Technical or Engineering Review Boards
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards
• Integrate and interface with the design teams and other stakeholders to provide safety inputs into requirements, design, test and operations
• Ensure safety readiness to support program design milestones (such as CDR)
• Own all aspects of employee performance management, mentorship, training, and career development (functional management)

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
• Bachelors in Science in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field and at least 8 years of related experience; OR at least 6 Years of relevant experience with a master's degree in STEM
• Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
• 1+ years experience managing cost, schedule, and performance of large government technical statements of work
• 1+ years of experience in leading System Safety Working Groups (or equivalent) focused on Customer Review of Hazard Analysis
• Direct experience in leading system safety technical teams on large complex systems
• 1+ years experience driving performance against schedule
• 1+ years experience with mentoring and development of personnel
• 1+ years experience with agile project management using jira, confluence, or equivalent tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language
• Experience with MIL-STD-882E products such as a System Safety Program Plan, Preliminary Hazard Analysis, Functional Hazard Analysis or Hazard Analysis Reports
• Weapon System Experience (Minuteman III or similar military or industry experience)
• Experience with C/C++, Java, object oriented design, or similar experience
• Experience using DO-178C for design development
• Experience with launch systems, range testing, and/or AFSPCMAN 91-710
• Model Based Systems Engineering experience using DOORS, Cameo, CPLM or related systems
• Familiarity with OSHA standards
• Active Top Secret clearance with investigation in the last 6 years
Primary Level Salary Range: $161,100.00 - $241,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
