Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff (level 5) Systems Engineer to join the Sentinel Systems Engineering team located in Roy, UT. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure.
What You Will Get To Do:
Decompose parent level requirements into lower-level requirements as appropriate, based upon service life, use case, and CONOPS.
“Own” the environments for equipment; add derived environmental figures/tables when analyses are performed to the appropriate Environmental Criteria Document
Review internal and external vendor performance specifications and verification methodology
Support internal and external (vendor) Design Reviews
Supporting System Test engineers develop their test procedures to ensure correct requirements interpretation and verification
Review COTS to ensure meeting environmental requirements; identify deficiencies and recommend delta qual testing to verify compliance
Participating in Test Plan, Procedure, and Report peer reviews
Witness testing as the Cognizant Environments Engineer
Review Workmanship or Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) procedures; approve vibration and thermal cycle surveys
Support MRB/FRB as predicated during testing and screening events
Develop and review requirements, verification methods, descriptions, plans, and architecture
Participating in investigation of early issues and findings to understand if requirements are impacted, and to support criticality adjudication
Coordinating with REs and System Test to ensure integrated functions are ready for the test team to formally verify.
Interface with vendors and customers
Ability to travel to CONUS test locations ~25%
Basic Qualification:
12 Years with Bachelors in Science; 10 Years with Masters; 8 Year with PhD
Must be a U.S. citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope (< 6 yrs), with an ability to obtain and maintain SAP approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 Natural and Induced Environmental Test Methodology (and tailoring), MIL-HDBK-344, MIL-HDBK-310, SMC-S-016, RCC 319, DOORS v7.X
Familiarity with Commercial and Industrial test methods (IEC 60068, RTCA DO-160, ASTM, SAE, etc.)
Preferred Qualification:
Active U.S. Department of Defense Top Secret clearance (or the ability to obtain it) with SAP approval capability.
Familiarity with laboratory testing: Experience with climatic, vibration, mechanical/ pyroshock testing; understanding underlying principles, sensor placements and importance.

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 - $229,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
