Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr Principal Industrial Engineer to support Production Proposal Estimating for Strategic Deterrence Division programs in Roy, UT, with primary emphasis on Sentinel.
The position partners across Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, Global Supply Chain, Program Management, Business Management, and Pricing & Estimating to build credible, executable production proposals. It combines estimating rigor with modern analytics, using historical actuals, staffing, capacity, and shop-floor performance data to improve BOEs and production planning.
What You’ll Get To Do:
· Develop BOEs, labor and material estimates, staffing plans, capacity assessments, build-rate models, and schedule-aligned manufacturing assumptions for SDS proposals and program changes.
· Apply bottom-up, parametric, analogous, and actuals-based estimating methods, including improvement curves, trend analysis, CERs, confidence factors, and discrete task assessments.
· Translate statements of work, manufacturing concepts, WBS elements, and schedule requirements into time-phased proposal inputs and executable production plans.
· Use Excel and data tools to analyze historical actuals, touch labor, repair and rework, charging, and staffing data to support estimate quality, logic checks, and auditability.
· Support proposal reviews, fact-finding, management reviews, and negotiations with clear rationale, assumptions, and traceable source data.
· Help improve reusable estimating tools, standards, documentation, and estimating databases for future SDS work.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Job Qualifications:
8 Years with Bachelors in Science; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, Operations Research, Data Analytics, Systems Engineering, or related technical field with 8 years of relevant experience; 6 with a Master's degree; or 4 with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
Experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing operations, production planning, or proposal estimating in aerospace, defense, or complex manufacturing.
Experience developing bases of estimate, labor estimates, staffing plans, capacity models, or proposal inputs.
Strong Excel modeling, presentation, and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of manufacturing flow, production scheduling, capacity, and how shop floor execution interfaces with supply chain and quality.
Must have an active Interim Secret clearance prior to start.
Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability and be willing to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD security clearance (Secret, Top Secret, etc.) and Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need.

Experience with basis of estimate writing, major proposal support, fact-finding, negotiations, or audit-compliant estimating.
Experience with touch labor projections, improvement curves, cost estimating relationship development, risk assessment, fixed-variable analysis, or discrete statement of work task estimating.
Experience using Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Structured Query Language (SQL), Python, SAP, Cobra, Workday, or manufacturing execution systems (MES).
Ability to read blueprints or schematics and work across mechanical or electrical production environments
