Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to add a Principal / Sr. Principal - TEMPEST Engineer to its Specialty Engineering Team located in Huntsville, Alabama in support of the Sentinel (GBSD) program.
This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
This position is for a systems engineer experienced in design and testing for TEMPEST compliance. The selected candidate will be supporting efforts within the Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) team.
Job duties are to include:
Make significant contributions to a team of engineers in TEMPEST testing and analysis
Conduct TEMPEST testing in accordance with NSTISSAM TEMPEST/1-92, CNSSAM TEMPEST 01-02
Support the program’s TEMPEST SME – representing the company and program through frequent customer interactions
Assist in the development of the TEMPEST Control Plan
Develop TEMPEST test plans and test procedures
Review TEMPEST testing results
Provide consultation on TEMPEST best practices
Basic Qualifications:
This requisition may be filled at either the Principal Systems Engineer level (T-03) or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer level (T-04).
Required for both levels:
Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
3+ years’ experience using TEMPEST Specs NSTISSAM TEMPEST 1/92, CNSSAM TEMPEST 1-13, CNSSAM TEMPEST 01-02, AMSG 720B, AMSG 788A, AMSG 784, BTR:01:210, NATO SDIP-27
3+ years’ experience ensuring systems and equipment meet
NSTISSAM TEMPEST 1/92, CNSSAM TEMPEST 1-13, CNSSAM TEMPEST 01-02 and other TEMPEST requirements
3+ years’ experience providing design guidance and recommendations on shielding, filtering, grounding; trace routing, PCB board layer stack-up, cabling, and I/O protections to facilitate compliance
3+ years’ experience reviewing and maintaining TEMPEST design guidelines
Preferred Qualifications:
Active Top-Secret Clearance with an investigation date in the last 6 years or ability to obtain
Certified TEMPEST Professional Level I
Prior experience operating a certified TEMPEST Test Lab
Prior experience developing the design of and establishing a certified TEMPEST lab
Ability to use design simulation tools to analyze shielding performance, filter design, and identify potential vulnerabilities from schematics or board layout deficiencies
Experience reviewing and maintaining TEMPEST design guidelines
Prior experience reviewing TEMPEST Test Plans and Test Reports in accordance with the guidelines specified in NSTISSAM TEMPEST 1-92 and CNSSAM TEMPEST 01-02

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
