Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer / Senior Principal Systems Engineer (Requirements and Verification). This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.

The selected engineer will be responsible for multiple tasks within requirements, verification, and interfaces for the Aerospace Vehicle Equipment (AVE) Segment. The engineer will be responsible for performing tasks dealing with interface definition, requirement decomposition, compliance tracking, verification planning and verification execution.

The selected candidate will be reporting to the AVE Requirements, Interfaces, and Architecture (RIA) Lead. They would be responsible for Systems Engineering Interfaces artifact and design development for one or more of the Missile Elements (i.e. Booster Stages, Guidance & Control, Reentry Vehicle etc) in the AVE Segment-System.

What You'll Get To Do:

  • Lead the development of key interface artifacts for the GBSD Missile (AVE) within Interface Control Documents (ICD). Additionally, adding portions of their content into the MBSE model
  • Lead the development of requirement decomposition and refinement in Performance Specifications based on knowledge of the functional architecture and performance budgets.
  • Work with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) Point of Contacts (POC) to review mechanical, thermal/structural, fluid, software and logical interface designs by leading Interface Working Groups between the interface stakeholders
  • Verification planning for the AVE requirements and interface requirements. Verification planning will transition into verification execution which includes development and review of verification artifacts, requirement verification report generation, and management of the approval process.
  • Work with their MBSE counterparts to ensure the requirements are integrated into their designated model-based artifacts (e.g. DOORs, Cameo)
  • Support TMRR execution including Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Milestone B re-certification
  • Support to incremental CDR execution eventually culminating in an AVE CDR (includes execution of CDR, readiness assessment)
  • Support to flight design review (FDR)
  • Work in a collaborative environment, across all system functions. Work with teammates across a wide variety of disciplines and get intimately familiar with all aspects of the Missile

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either the Principal Systems Engineer level (T-03) or the Senior Principal Systems Engineer level (T-04).

  • Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 Years of related experience; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Years with PhD
  • Sr. Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 Years of related experience; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
  • 2+ years working in requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS)
  • 2+ years performing requirements and verification work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience modeling with Cameo Enterprise Architecture or MagicDraw (No Magic, Inc.) or other architecture modeling tools
  • 3+ years of Systems engineering experience
  • 2+ years working in Interface Control Documentation
  • Experience with DoDAF and UPDM or UAF Profiles
  • Experience with complex system development on large programs
  • Experience with flight hardware

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
