Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr Principal Systems Engineer to come work as a Network Simulation & Test Analyst. This position is located in Roy, Utah and supports the Sentinel program. 

What You'll Get To Do:
This candidate will join the Weapon System Integration (WSI) team under Sentinel Systems Engineering, Integration, & Test (SEIT), working on Network Systems Integration (NSI). Under the guidance of the Network Simulation & Test Lead, the selected candidate will support the NSI team which works to develop program-wide networking governance and standards, develop and/or synthesize network artifacts at the system level (including cross-segment network interfaces, program network architecture, and network documentation), perform program-wide gap assessments for network development, develop handling plans for any identified issues, and provide networking subject matter expertise to areas such as Major Program Event (MPE) reviews, modeling (architecture, simulation, analysis....), and requirements. NSI team purview includes the deliverable network architecture, incremental/test configs (lab networks), & ITF/MIF/VSFB test networks.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to: 

• Mentor under a senior-level architect/assignee on networking systems architecture synthesis and system-level development
• Use Modeling, Simulation, & Analysis (MS&A) practices to design, test, and verify network capabilities
• Drive system-level network MS&A and test governance and tool standardization
• Provide program-wide SME inputs into networking MS&A and test
• Coordinate with other MS&A, Test, and network developer teams (e.g. MS&A, RAM, STT, etc…)
• Mentor a mid-career Network Simulation & Test Analyst on networking systems MS&A practices
• Perform day-to-day health checks, network capacity planning/modeling, performance analytics, reliability-centered design (RCD), and develop Mean-Time-Between-Failure (MTBF) metrics for network elements
• Set up a 24×7 monitoring environment for prototype and early-production systems, create SOPs, and run the incident-response cycle during the EMD’s “Production Test” phase
• Participate in frequent working groups to support iterative development
• Create and ensure that appropriate network documentation exists
• Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed
• Recommend and implement system/process enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system
• Influence network requirements and interfaces; translate program-level requirements into network-level deliverables
• Support governance adherence for waveform and lower-level OSI network management, protocols, and timing
• Assess the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable network infrastructure to include network design, architecture, specifications, cross-segment interfaces, and equipment selection per DoD requirements
• Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
• Provide specific and detailed information for hardware and software selection as well as implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements
• Maintain knowledge of current and emerging Industry and DoD trends and technologies in network frameworks, management, and analytics while ensuring proper utilization where applicable
• Establish and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction according to defined objectives while adhering to established policies

Basic Qualifications

This requisition may be filled at either the Principal Systems Engineer level (T-03) or Sr. Principal Systems Engineer level (T-04).

Required for Both Levels:

• Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company to meet its business need
• Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis experience of Aerospace Vehicles through either professional work experience or education performing physics based simulation and analysis
• 1+ years of experience with analysis tools such as MATLAB
• Familiarity with statistical theory and it's application to analysis problems
• Strong partnership/collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to partner cross-IPT/cross-discipline within a team
• Exposure to developing governance and standards
• Experience with systems integration

Principal Systems Engineer:

• Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 3 years of experience with Master's degree, 1 years of experience with PhD
• 1+ years of experience with scripting (e.g. Python/PowerShell)
• Exposure to designing, architecting, simulating, or deploying complex network infrastructures
• 1+ years of experience working with requirements including authoring, allocating, tracing, interpreting, etc...
• 1+ years of experience with one or more of the following: C2, physical security, cybersecurity, communications systems, facility design, military aerospace development

Sr. Principal Systems Engineer:

• Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 6 years of experience with Master's degree, 4 years of experience with PhD
• 2+ years of experience with scripting (e.g. Python/PowerShell)
• 1+ years of experience with designing, architecting, simulating, or deploying complex network infrastructures
• 2+ years of experience working with requirements including authoring, allocating, tracing, interpreting, etc...
• 2+ years of experience with one or more of the following: C2, physical security, cybersecurity, communications systems, facility design, military aerospace development

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Top Secret Clearance
• Experience with network capacity planning or modeling, reliability-centered design (RCD), and/or developing Mean-Time Between Failure (MTBF) metrics for network elements
• Experience implementing and executing a monitoring environment for prototype or early-production network systems, creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and/or running incident response during EMD's "production test" phase
• Familiarity with NOC tools (SolarWinds, Splunk, NetMRI), incident response
• Proficiency with telemetry (SNMP, NetFlow, sFlow)
• Hardline &/or RF communications skillsets
• Experience implementing and using model-based systems engineering tools, practices, and methods (including using SysML or UML in Cameo or Rhapsody)
• Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite
• Familiarity with Model-Driven Systems Engineering languages (SysML/UML in Cameo or Rhapsody)
• Experience developing network documentation and design planning
• Familiarity with DoD approved routing/switching platforms, DoD security frameworks, NIST 800-53
• Ability to obtain DOD 8570 IAT Level II (Security + or higher) within 2 months of employment start

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
