R/GA is seeking a versatile strategist with 5 to 8 years of experience to join our fast-growing Tokyo office. Work with Japanese brands looking to make a global impact, and global brands hungry to establish local resonance. On any given day, you’ll pitch the C-suite on a creative strategy, drive research to uncover unmet needs in the marketplace, and partner with experience designers to build a world-class digital product. No matter what you’ll do, it will be focused on helping brands deliver on their purpose in the most useful ways possible.

The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of the fundamentals of good strategy. Flex your knowledge about how to build brands. Keep an eye on the trends that matter in Japan and abroad. Be able to uncover simple truths to define an opportunity. Tell a compelling, data-driven story to convince anyone to pursue a certain course of action. Opportunities

  • Partner with our team of international talent in APAC across different functions (strategy, creative, experience design, production, client services, etc) to deliver projects.
  • Join our global strategy council to tap into best practices + get support.
  • Work with blue-chip local/international brands + emerging new economy brands.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on country trends and translate them into insights.
  • Act as the in-country subject matter expert for advisory and best practices, as well as build strategic and visionary POVs on how to go beyond best practices to enhance innovation.
  • Analyze trends and identify opportunities for our clients to differentiate from its competitors.
  • Build strategic POVs for how to deliver on client briefs.
  • Lead new business pitches from beginning to end.
  • Develop and implement go-to-market strategies aligned with client objectives.

Requirements

  • Media planning and solid understanding of media landscape in Japan.
  • Luxury experience and a good understanding of the luxury industry in Japan and the luxury consumer space will be good-to-have.
  • Proven track record for unearthing local insights that inspire creative work.
  • Some research skills in both quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Deep understanding of cultural and media trends in Japan.
  • Strong critical thinking skills + ability to build logical arguments.
  • Comfortable with persuasive storytelling. 
  • Solid craft skills in building proposals and presentations.
  • Experience with planning/facilitating workshops online + offline.
  • Must have an entrepreneurial mindset + be a collaborative, optimistic risk taker.
  • Language proficiency in Japanese (native) and English (basic conversational).
