Restaurants around the world, both large and small, including Chick-fil-A, Ben & Jerry’s, KFC, and Eataly trust our software to power their delivery business. What you’ll do
As a Software Engineer at Otter, you'll be an integral part of our data-driven development team, contributing to the evolution of cutting-edge internal tools. Your role will encompass a diverse range of responsibilities, including:
- Data-Driven Development: Contribute to a data-centric development team, and engage in strategic planning for various internal tools.
- Agile Methodologies: Implement and test software using agile methodologies.
- Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with a collaborative team to enhance and support technology.
- Code Contribution: Write, debug, maintain, and test code for diverse projects.
- Architectural Design: Design scalable systems with a focus on architecture.
- Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Actively participate in and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, driving innovation within the team and supporting CloudKitchens’ technological advancements.
- Full- Stack Development: Develop and maintain both the frontend and backend components of our applications
What the team focuses on
Otter offers a wide range of software and hardware solutions for restaurants. Some examples include unifying all orders across platforms (Uber Eats, Doordash etc), QR code ordering, POS, Kiosk, printers etc. The wide range of products brings an interesting set of complexity in terms of discovery and set up. You will be a part of the Otter Engineering team focussed on building products for our internal ops users across sales, onboarding, customer success and external customers as they go through the experience of discovering, purchasing, onboarding and upselling onto different products that Otter has to offer. We are a full stack team of frontend and backend engineers, designers and a PM on a mission to offer the best experience for our customers to discover and onboard onto Otter product suite.
What we’re looking for
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Software, Computer Systems or Networks Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 6+ years of domain experience in the specified role.
- 6+ years of industry software engineering experience developing and shipping beautiful applications using language(s) such as JavaScript or TypeScript for front-end development and Java/Go for back-end development.
- Individual Contribution: A track record of significant contributions in previous roles, showcasing your ability to make a meaningful impact.
- Strong ability to design and create long-lasting architecture from scratch and evolve existing systems.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.

This role is based in our Seattle office location. We believe that people do their best work when they are together. As a company, we’re in the marketplace of ideas and innovation. When you’re constantly innovating, changing how an industry works, inventing new products and processes - and we are doing all these things - we believe we’re better as a team in person.
