Job Description

The Senior Systems Administrator has significant experience with Windows operating systems. They are thoroughly familiar with software delivery paradigms (Software as a Service, Client / Server, etc.). They have full understanding of all technologies needed to deploy the applications their team is responsible for. They can execute architectural direction within the department and can provide direct input to development groups to improve the applications deployed to the IFS Cloud service. They will also provide L2-L3 technical support for their team and for customers. 

 Required skills: 

• Windows systems administration 
• Powershell 
• Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP 
• IIS Server administration 

Additional but optional: 

• SQL Server administration 
• Citrix and/or RD Gateway configuration and administration 
• Linux systems administration 
• MCSA or RHCSA certification 

Day to day:

• Configure virtual Windows Server systems and their related technologies 
• Perform IFS application installs, upgrades and resolve related problems 
• Automate processes to support workflows and simplify daily operations 
• Provide L2-L3 support for internal and external customers 
• Maintain technical / process documentation 

Occasionally: 

• Isolate and identify performance, availability, and security issues as they are occurring 
• Onboard and troubleshoot new technologies or versions 
• Manage and troubleshoot backup configurations 
• Hold on-call responsibilities 
• Participate scheduled outage responsibilities 

Personality: 

• Passionate about technology, viewed as an expert by your peers 
• Obsessive about automating routine tasks 
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, able to articulate complex technical ideas to diverse non-technical audiences 
• Able to solve problems quickly with strong desire for root cause analysis 

Experience: 

• Full understanding of System Administration best practices 
• Comprehensive understanding of networking concepts 
• Familiar use of tools like tcpdump, wireshark, Windows SysInternals, etc. 
• Expertise on backup strategies in physical & virtual environments  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or equivalent related experience. 
• 5+ years experience in systems administration and/or development
