About this Opportunity

Join Wellways as a Senior Wellbeing Navigator Peer and play a key leadership role within our Support & Connect Team, where Lived and Living Experience is not only valued but leads the way we work. As a designated consumer Lived Experience position, you will use your Intentional Peer Support (IPS) expertise to build authentic, mutual relationships with participants experiencing complex mental health challenges, while championing recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and human rights-based practice across the service.

Working alongside another Senior Wellbeing Navigator Peer, you will provide peer supervision, co-reflection, mentoring and day-to-day practice support to a large team of Wellbeing Navigator Peers. You will model the principles and tasks of IPS, foster a culture that recognises the unique contribution of peer work, and collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to strengthen the integration of Lived Experience approaches. This is an exciting opportunity to influence ongoing mental health reform, support the growth of the peer workforce, and empower people to build meaningful connections and pursue lives of their choosing.

You will need:

  • Personal experience of distress, trauma, mental illness and/or substance use and the recovery journey, accessing and navigating health care services, including public mental health services and a willingness to draw upon your experiences and recovery journey to inform your work. 
  • Completion of Intentional Peer Support Core or Advanced Training (Essential)
  • Minimum qualification: Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work, AoD, Community Services, or other relevant certificate level qualification (desired)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Consumer Peer Work role

You will also need:

  • Current valid Driver’s License and the ability to undertake travel for the role
  • Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Workers Screening Check
  • Right to Work within Australia
  • Satisfactory National Police Records Check (valid within the last 12 months)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate

Job Description SummaryThis is a designated consumer Lived Experience position. You will bring your Intentional Peer Support (IPS) expertise to contribute to a culture grounded in the principles and tasks of IPS. You will provide IPS to a small number of participants, as well as providing Peer Supervision/Consumer Perspective Supervision/Co Reflection and day to day practice support and mentoring to our large team of Wellbeing Navigator Peers. You will also build collaborative relationships across the larger multidisciplinary team at the Local to support the integration of Lived/Living Experience approaches and uphold trauma informed, human rights based and recovery-oriented principles.Culture

Skills Required
