ABOUT THE TEAM

You will be an integral part of a team responsible for delivering a powerful, scalable next-generation vehicle platform for future Toyota and Lexus vehicles. This platform will comprise a new centralized electrical architecture powered by Arene, Woven Planet's flagship programmable automotive software system that integrates on-vehicle OS and data collection services with the cloud. This team will deliver concept hardware and software solutions driven by high-quality UX research that defines an end-to-end product definition for Toyota's next-generation vehicles. This concept work will produce a full-stack solution starting with the digital services, the programmable software system, and the underlying compute and electrical architecture of the vehicle. This team represents the cutting edge of software and hardware development at Toyota. Your work will marry the speed and agility of Silicon Valley software development with the standards of functional safety, craftsmanship, and time-tested quality of Toyota products in a fast-paced, prototyping environment.


WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

As a member of the Arene Advanced Development team, you will work on developing applications for a modern vehicle operating system, cloud application and service, focusing on data management collected from vehicle sensors, visualizing data and intelligent software workflows for next generation mobility applications. In this role you will be working on the cloud platform, application and partner ecosystem to build and support applications, designing and building supporting infrastructure services, interfaces for access, testing frameworks and other requirements for applications operating in the cloud ecosystem.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain a suite of vehicle data management services.
  • Ensure scalability, reliability, availability and security of the services owned by the team.
  • Deliver on defined business problems with limited guidance and decide/influence team technical strategy.
  • Lead products to improve engineering by adopting test and operational excellence best practices on the team.
  • Influence OKRs, business strategy for immediate team, and presents convincingly to a wider audience.
  • Work to improve and optimize existing cloud services to deliver business and technical value
  • Make recommendations for improvements and share practices broadly amongst cross teams in cloud architecture development.
  • Solves difficult/complex problems with extensible solutions. Simplify, optimizes, removes bottlenecks.
  • Makes technical trade-offs between short term team needs and long-term business goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS, or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or another relevant field with 3+ years of relevant experience in the following areas
  • This is a mid engineer role.
  • Must be a skilled programmer, well grounded in Software design principles with proficiency in one or more programming languages like Golang, Kotlin/Java, C++.
  • Strong foundation in distributed systems, event sourcing and cloud-native microservices architecture and design patterns. Proficiency in Kubernetes based service development is required.
  • Experience building and deploying production quality services to public cloud like AWS/GCP/Azure. Hands-on experience working with cloud native serverless technologies (Fargate, Cloud Run, ACI, Lambda etc), object storage, cloud security and cloud networking.
  • Familiarity with distributed storage concepts and experience with traditional RDBMS (e.g RDS, Aurora) as well as NoSQL, Time-series databases and Snowflake.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with authentication and authorization/RBAC enabled services.
  • Familiarity with GraphQL and REST based API development.
  • Familiarity with Kafka or similar queuing frameworks.
  • Familiarity with front end development with Javascript, React or Flutter

$140,000- $230,000 a year

Your base salary is one part of your total compensation. We offer a base salary, short term and long term incentives, and a comprehensive benefits package. The California pay scale for this full time position is $140,000- $230,000. The total compensation offered to an employee will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and level.
