Your day at NTT DATA

The Senior Telecommunications Operations Specialist is an advanced subject matter expert, requiring strong technical and analytical skills.
This role works cross-functionally across various geographic regions and requiring coordination with customer facing project managers to provision new customers and services primarily focusing on Service Number enablement.

What you'll be doing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages the ordering, provisioning, porting, and inventory of all Service Numbers (Toll-free, GEO, NAT) ensuring that they are scheduled and deployed with a high level of coordination with the Delivery team and customer-facing project managers.
  • Participates in after-hours porting of numbers to ensure seamless customer cutovers in a 24x7 environment.
  • Participates in the weekly, monthly, and quarterly vendor service reviews along with the Carrier Operations Managers.
  • Escalates issues with the vendors when normal escalation paths by the team have been exhausted.
  • Stays abreast of the global regulatory environment working alongside the compliance team and Carrier Operations Managers as it pertains to impacts on ordering and porting of numbers.
  • Participates in the identification of opportunities to improve, orchestrate or automate repetitive tasks, prioritizes them and works cross-functionally to create or deploy new processes to increase the level of efficiency across teams.
  • Performs any other related task as required.

Knowledge and Attributes:

  • Multi-lingual in at least two languages preferred (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese).
  • Advanced understanding of telecommunication networks and regulatory environments.
  • Advanced understanding of SMS/800 database concepts.
  • Advanced knowledge in IP routing, SIP services, codecs, session border controller technologies.
  • Advanced expertise with Excel and analytical tools such as Power BI and Business Objects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrates excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and initiative to satisfy internal and external customer requirements.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Telecommunications or Business or related field.

Required Experience:

  • Advanced experience in an international telecommunications environment, preferably a global organization.
  • Advanced experience in provisioning telecom services such as new number assignment, porting of geo and toll-free numbers.
  • Advanced experience in large scale customer migration projects working closely with customer project managers to coordinate phase deployments of complex and critical PBX and call center environments.
  • Advanced experience in enabling PBX and Contact Centre offerings.
