Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.
Hey, g’day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!
Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you’re probably keen to find out what’s on offer, so we’ll get straight to the point.
Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney, with a campus in Melbourne, this role is based in Sydney or Melbourne. We trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals, while collaborating closely with global teams across time zones.
What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that’s all part of the fun. This role will give you the flavour of the type of things you’ll be working on when you start — but it will likely evolve.
We’re looking for a Visual Designer (Video). A designer who understands social media culture, video trends, storytelling patterns, and is familiar with platforms like TikTok, Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
But unlike a traditional social-media content creator, this role focuses on designing content for Canva users: Templates, video formats, motion graphics, hooks, trend-based layouts, storytelling sequences, and creative assets that users can customise and publish on their own channels. This designer will help Canva shape the next generation of video and social-first content within the product, enabling millions of people to produce high-performing, culturally relevant content.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
Designing short-form video templates, storytelling structures, and trend-based content for users
Translating cultural and platform trends into usable, customisable creative assets
Building sequences, hooks, transitions, and story arcs that reflect real platform behaviours
Collaborating with Content Studio, Product, and Editing/Video teams to maintain alignment
Delivering content at pace while balancing craft, consistency, and scalability
Participating in trend reviews, content forecasting, and creative reviews
Contributing to experimentation across motion, video editing, and AI-assisted content creation
This role is perfect for designers who are:
- Familiar with social media platforms and the types of content that resonate with audiences
Able to convert platform trends into templates usable by millions of non-experts
Skilled in video editing, motion design, mobile-first storytelling, and creative pacing
Curious about creator culture and the evolving role of short-form video
Collaborative, iterative, and comfortable with rapid creative production
Motivated by empowering people to express their ideas through social content
