About Morningstar
It started with an idea-one great idea from a 27-year-old stock analyst. Our founder, Joe Mansueto, recognized inequity in the availability and distribution of financial information. He set out to change these practices, democratizing and demystifying investing and giving more people access to the tools, products, and information they needed to achieve their financial goals. This simple, revolutionary idea became the foundation of our company and the core of our mission: empowering investor success.
About This Role
Reporting to the Co-Head of Global Sovereign Ratings and based in Frankfurt, this leadership role sits within Morningstar DBRS's global sovereign team. The Senior Vice President (SVP) will lead a small team of sovereign analysts focused on European credits while maintaining direct analytical responsibility for a portfolio of European sovereigns. This role is integral to producing high-quality credit assessments and topical research, guiding analytical methodology, and representing Morningstar externally with government issuers, institutions, investors, and media stakeholders.
What You'll Do
  • Lead and manage a team of sovereign analysts covering European sovereign, supranational, and government-related issuers.
  • Conduct sovereign credit assessments and maintain rating opinions on a portfolio of European government issuers.
  • Develop and publish timely, high-quality credit reports, research notes, and topical commentaries.
  • Contribute to sector methodology development and ensure analytical rigor across the team's output.
  • Build and manage relationships with issuers, European institutions, and investors; represent Morningstar externally at conferences and in media engagements.
  • Support business development initiatives through analytical insight and thought leadership.

Who You Are
  • 10-15 years of experience in credit analysis, with a strong background in sovereign or country risk.
  • Degree in economics or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and written communication skills in English; additional languages are an asset.
  • Proven leadership ability and experience managing or mentoring analysts.
  • Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage across global teams.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for issuer engagement and external representation.
