Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Versatile Technologist to join the Prop-SD program in Herndon, VA.
This role will focus on driving installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of multiple data centers containing a variety of servers, storage, network, and secure communication hardware. The ideal candidate will lead technical efforts and be willing to serve as the program COMSEC Custodian/Responsible Officer (CRO) after completing the required training and qualification. This hybrid role requires strong hardware engineering skills, leadership experience, attention to detail, the ability to follow defined direction, and a commitment to learning and applying COMSEC account management and custody responsibilities.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead hardware support for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of multiple data centers containing various servers, storage, network, and secure communication hardware
- Mentor and support junior and mid-level staff; coordinate and lead technical design reviews and risk mitigation activities
- Collaborate across firmware, systems, test, manufacturing, supply chain, and program management teams to help meet schedule, cost, and performance targets
- Establish and maintain lab infrastructure and procedures to support secure handling and testing of hardware
- Serve as the COMSEC Custodian/Responsible Officer (CRO), including:
- Completing required COMSEC custodian/CRO training and qualification within the program timeline
- Maintaining COMSEC account(s) ensuring compliance with DoD/National COMSEC policies
- Controlling and accounting for COMSEC materials, ensuring secure storage (e.g., GSA containers), managing key loading procedures, and maintaining accountability records
- Approving personnel access to COMSEC material and ensuring required training and documentation are up to date
- Coordinating with the Program Security Officer (PSO), Information Assurance, and government COMSEC authorities for audits, reporting, and inspections
- Participate in threat assessments, supply chain risk evaluations, and hardware security reviews
- Report technical status, security posture, and COMSEC metrics to program leadership
- Support facility maintenance and related activities
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Active Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
- 8+ years of relevant infrastructure, hardware, or facilities support experience
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, or coordinate technical teams or projects supporting hardware or infrastructure environments
- Eligible to obtain and maintain COMSEC access and associated security clearances (TS/TS-SCI preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and with government stakeholders
- Willingness to complete COMSEC custodian/CRO training and accept responsibility for COMSEC account management
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Active clearance with access to the Prop-SD program

Summary pay range for Senior (Level 4): $119,850.00 - $162,150.00
