  • Manage clusters, hosts, and virtual machine lifecycle (provisioning, modification, decommissioning)
  • Perform capacity management, performance tuning, and system optimization
  • Maintain operational standards for resource allocation, snapshots, and system hygiene

VDI Platform Operations (Horizon / App Volumes / Workspace ONE)

  • Manage lifecycle, stability, and performance of the enterprise VDI platform
  • Troubleshoot complex VDI incidents and perform root cause analysis
  • Maintain gold images, desktop pools, and application delivery workflows
  • Partner with Desktop Engineering teams to ensure consistent end-user experience

Global Capacity & Pool Management

  • Monitor and manage resource utilization across VDI environments
  • Optimize compute and storage resource allocation for peak usage scenarios
  • Ensure scalability and performance across regions and user populations

Monitoring & Operational Visibility

  • Define and maintain monitoring standards across compute, virtualization, and VDI layers
  • Improve alert quality and reduce operational noise
  • Provide reporting on system health, utilization, and performance trends

Resiliency & Disaster Recovery (DR / BCP)

  • Support replication strategies (e.g., Zerto) across infrastructure platforms
  • Develop and execute DR/BCP testing scenarios for compute, virtualization, and VDI
  • Maintain runbooks and ensure recovery readiness of critical systems

Automation & Tooling

  • Develop automation using PowerCLI, PowerShell, or equivalent tools
  • Automate provisioning, reporting, compliance checks, and operational workflows
  • Continuously improve efficiency by reducing manual intervention and repeatable tasks

CMDB & Configuration Management

  • Maintain accurate configuration items (CIs) and relationships across infrastructure layers
  • Ensure all infrastructure changes are reflected in CMDB systems
  • Support audit readiness through consistent documentation and governance

Cross-Domain Collaboration

  • Work across compute, storage, network, and desktop engineering teams
  • Act as a key escalation point for infrastructure and VDI-related issues
  • Coordinate effectively with vendors and support teams

Required Qualifications

  • Experience supporting enterprise compute platforms (HPE, Dell, Cisco UCS, Nutanix)
  • Strong experience supporting or operating VDI platforms (Horizon preferred)
  • Proficiency in PowerShell / PowerCLI scripting and automation
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure domains
  • Experience working in production environments with operational responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Zerto or similar replication technologies
  • Familiarity with VMware Aria Operations or enterprise monitoring platforms
  • Experience with DR/BCP planning and execution
  • Exposure to CMDB/ServiceNow governance practices

Success Measures

  • Reduction in incident volume through proactive monitoring and automation
  • Improved platform stability and performance across compute and VDI
  • Successful execution of DR/BCP testing and recovery scenarios
  • Increased automation coverage for provisioning and operations
  • Accurate and audit-ready CMDB data across infrastructure components

Role Considerations

  • This role combines infrastructure ownership with end-user platform responsibility
  • Requires strong prioritization, operational discipline, and cross-team coordination
  • Designed for hands-on engineers who can operate across multiple infrastructure layers while maintaining clear accountability
