Staff UX Product Designer

Role: Hybrid or remote

We are looking for an experienced Staff Product Designer (UX/UI) to create compelling product experiences across our flagship product suite as part of the Software Product Experience team. 

About the Team 

The Software Product Experience team provides compelling software that meets customers’ specific needs, unlocks value of ADI digital and analog products, and ensures easy integration into customer solutions at the application level. We work at the intersection between hardware and software experiences to achieve ADIs core customer goals and drive product innovation.

About the Role 

You will work within a cross-functional team of UX/UI Designers and Software Engineers focused on streamlining and enhancing the workflows of Embedded Engineers via intuitive software tools and experiences. The core product is a VS Code extension with several integrated tools which enable different stages of the software application development process, from getting to a ‘hello world’ application to debugging and beyond. You will play a critical role in defining and crafting intuitive and efficient product experiences that improve the quality of life for embedded engineers within VS Code and supporting platforms. 

Responsibilities 

As a Staff Product Designer (UX/UI), you will ensure that all elements of the user experience are optimized for improved usability, usefulness, and exceptional visual standards, translating abstract ideas into tangible and engaging product concepts. 

As a Staff UX/UI Designer your responsibilities will include: 

  • Partnering with Product Managers, Engineers, Researchers, as well as other cross-functional team members to define both the long-term strategy and the short-term tactics for product solutions. 

  • Initiating and facilitating collaborative sessions and workshops to align team members on product direction. 

  • Defining product flows for multi-touchpoint experiences. 

  • Overseeing and aiding in conducting concept and usability testing. 

  • Creating cross-platform interactive prototypes and interactive wireframes used in concept testing and engineering planning. 

  • Participating in design reviews and sharing your work regularly with the design and business leadership. 

  • Advising and helping guide user research studies. Observing and analyzing end-user behaviour. 

  • Crisply articulated design decisions iterated quickly and collaborated seamlessly with product managers, marketers, and developers. 

  • Providing creative direction and aligning with cross-functional teams in other areas of the product suite. 

  • Collaborating with Design and Development on production-ready UI components, screens and experiences. 

  • Defining new, and contributing to existing Design Principles to be employed across our product suite. 

All about you 

Must have skills: 

  • 5+ years' experience working on software products. 

  • User-focused with a strong understanding of the business. 

  • Ability to work on very broadly defined, loose concepts and sometimes on narrowly defined, tactical deliverables. 

  • Ability to make collaborative pragmatic decisions based on a holistic understanding of our products, services and latest software and OS standards. Works and thinks at a wider product experience level. 

  • Working knowledge of the latest Figma builds and methodology. 

  • Good knowledge of design and accessibility principles. 

  • Working knowledge of Agile and other common project management models. 

  • Broad familiarity with Developer workflow and tools. 

Nice to have skills: 

  • Direct experience in designing for VS Code or similar Integrated Developer Environment (IDE) type products. 

  • Experience in design for Data-visualization. 

  • Ability to understand, follow and add value to a specific art direction. 

  • Broad familiarity or knowledge of Electronic Engineering (EE) concepts.

  • Ability to reduce complex problems to the right balance of flexibility, power, and ease of use. 

  • Understands the array of technical constraints, user goals, and business requirements that shape a product. Critical ability to find a meaningful balance between optimizing for speed and quality and doing risky, interesting, pixel-perfect work. 

  • Experience designing for business and developer-focused products. 

  • A hands-on maker, with the skills to effectively communicate concepts, direction and decisions with the team and with external partners. 

  • Curiosity, interest and experience experimenting with emerging technologies. 

  • Passion for working with other Designers to help each other learn and grow. 

  • Skilled in explaining your work, process, and decisions to cross-functional stakeholders and craves feedback to help improve the quality of the end product. 

  • Strong track record independently delivering work as well as influencing the work of other designers, contractors, and agencies. 

  • Good command and high dexterity of speed and quality in use of standard design and development applications, e.g., Figma, Miro, Jira.
