Job Overview
WHO WE ARERelativity is a leading legal data intelligence company building technology that helps users organize data, discover the truth, and act on it with confidence. Our AI-powered, cloud platform, RelativityOne, transforms massive volumes of complex information into actionable insights for litigation, investigations, regulatory inquiries, data breach responses, and other high-stakes legal work where accuracy and trust are crucial.
The world’s largest law firms, corporations, and government agencies rely on Relativity’s legal AI software to securely surface and manage the most relevant and impactful information in their matters. Beyond our commercial impact, we are committed to expanding access to technology and supporting pro bono legal work.
WHAT WE DO
At Relativity, engineers do more than write code - they build systems that enable users to uncover insights from complex data at scale using cloud-native architecture, AI, and modern tools.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior UX Engineer, you will design, build, and refine React-based experiences that make complex administrative workflows bullet-proof. You’ll partner with Designers, Product Managers, and Engineers, and you’ll use AI-native workflows to prototype within hours and ship to production with quality built in. You will also define the standard that AI-generated UI must meet at Relativity and build the tooling that enforces it. This is a hands-on technical role with leadership expectations — equally at home in a design critique and a code review: you’ll own the quality bar for your domain, influence how UI is built across the organization, and mentor engineers in UX craft and AI-native development.
If you’re passionate about solving hard problems, designing for scale, and building tools that matter — while working in a culture that values transparency, innovation, and shared success — Relativity offers the opportunity to make a measurable difference in the marketplace.
Job Description and Requirements
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Design, build, and ship React-based administrative experiences with usability, accessibility, responsiveness, and consistency built in from the start.
- Partner with Designers from discovery onward: explore and prototype interaction options, surface technical constraints early, and co-own the final experience — workflows, edge states, and interaction details — rather than implementing a finished spec.
- Build high-fidelity prototypes for usability testing, take part in research sessions, and iterate on what the findings show.
- Own the interaction details that make data-dense screens usable: keyboard and focus management, information density, motion and micro-interactions, microcopy and error messaging, and internationalization.
- Define the standard AI-generated UI must meet at Relativity, use agents to prototype patterns in hours rather than sprints, and make compliance automatic through tooling rather than manual review.
- Measure success in user outcomes — task completion, error rates, and time-to-complete on the most-used administrative workflows — alongside the share of AI-generated UI that passes compliance gates without manual remediation.
- Build reusable patterns and components, with clear criteria for promoting them into shared platform use.
- Mentor engineers, advocate for accessibility and UX quality across teams, and contribute to organization-wide standards for UX quality, frontend craft, and AI-native UI development.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Required
- 5+ years of professional experience in UX engineering, front-end engineering, or design systems at scale.
- Hands-on experience with design systems, design tokens, and reusable component architecture.
- Working knowledge of WCAG AA and inclusive design, applied in production rather than audited afterward, including assistive-technology testing (screen readers, keyboard-only).
- Fluency in Figma (components, variants, variables) and in keeping design and code libraries in parity, with design tokens as the shared language between designers and code.
- Experience with modern software development practices, including code review, testing, and CI/CD.
- Strong product, interaction, and visual judgment, with the ability to explain UX trade-offs to designers, product managers, and engineers.
- A passion for making complex workflows feel clear and efficient, not just visually consistent.
Preferred
- Experience using AI-native development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor or Claude Code) to prototype, build, or validate UI, including encoding standards for agents through rules, skills, or MCP-based tooling.
- Proven ability to build accessible, responsive applications with React, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS, demonstrated by a portfolio or code samples.
- Experience building the tooling that makes UI standards automatic: design tokens and component manifests that agents consume, and accessibility, lint, and visual-regression gates in CI.
- Background in data-dense, workflow-heavy enterprise or administrative applications.
- Track record of mentoring engineers and raising UX quality across teams.
- Experience in regulated or compliance-driven environments where accessibility and defensibility matter.
