Wealth Management (WM) Platforms manages industry-leading platforms, across all WM channels and client segments, to provide a unified digital experience, unlock growth, and deliver efficiencies for Advisors, Clients, and Institutions. WM Platforms consists of ten sub-teams including: Field Experience & Platforms, Digital Client Experience & Platforms, Workplace Platforms, Automation & Workflow, Digital Trading & Investing, Generative AI UX Design & Research, Strategy & Execution, WM Platforms Risk and the Chief Operating Office.

The User Experience Design & Research team bridges platforms within WM – collaborating with tech, compliance, marketing, and research to support development & delivery of experiences that solve problems for real people. The team applies design thinking & lean processes to enable the Firm to achieve competitive advantage and increased performance while reducing risk & lifecycle development

The Advisory Platform team designs tools and workflows that support the Firms ‘Path-to-Advice’ strategy helping Advisors structure and implement investment opportunities across all client segments - from individual retail clients to ultra-high net worth as well as the institutions and government entities that sit between traditional segments.

We are embarking on a multi-year growth plan to deepen existing client engagement across all channels. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, business analysts, and development, to understand user needs and create seamless and intuitive experiences for our Financial Advisors.

To be successful in this role, you should have experience in simplifying enterprise complexity, and setting direction for undefined, complex features and new projects.

   

Once Here You Will...  

  • Design confidently around Wealth Management concepts, translating domain complexity into clear, usable experiences without oversimplifying.
  • Produce efficient, low-friction workflows that optimize speed, accuracy, and confidence.
  • Define north-star journeys, service blueprints, and multi-quarter roadmaps aligned to business outcomes and platform constraints.
  • Operate as a senior partner to Product, Engineering, Legal/Compliance/Risk, and Operations
  • Produce high-quality specs and prototypes
  • Produce IA for large-scale tools—navigation models, object/relationship modeling, scalable patterns, and cross-application consistency (especially where data and actions span multiple products).
  • Have a solid understanding of how Artificial Intelligence capabilities can be applied both at the application design level as well as the UX asset production level (in Figma)
  • Strategize and execute the product vision by being heavily involved in the end-to-end product design process   
  • Surface the underlying needs and motivation of our users to ensure we achieve business goals and provide value  
  • Work closely with our research team to synthesize qualitative and quantitative data and make value-driven design decisions which then translate into clear, simple UIs
  • Design holistic solutions that integrate seamlessly into our Wealth Management product ecosystem

Relevant Experience and Mindset:  

  • Bachelor's degree in design or related field; master’s degree is a plus   
  • 10 years of experience as a UX designer and as a key contributor to the success of products that have launched  
  • An outstanding portfolio that demonstrates how you have created experiences that solved business and user needs  
  • Fluency in Figma and the use of design systems & comfortable with Rapid Prototyping (Figma Make, Claude, Lovable)
  • You thrive in a collaborative, explorative environment and value being on a diverse team that you can bounce ideas off, get critical feedback from, and unite to mature design thinking in a large organization  
  • You practice active listening and contribute to group situations (brainstorms, audits, critiques, whiteboard sessions, etc.)

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $190,000 per year at
the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
