ResponsibilitiesExadata
- Software and firmware maintenance of the Exadata database servers, storage servers including upgrades and patching, resolving security vulnerabilities.
- Automation – planning and automating patches across Exadata, database nodes and cluster.
- Integration of Exadata monitoring and escalation into existing IT monitoring and actionable events and solutions.
- Provide and implement performance tuning recommendations of all components in the Exadata.
- Working / Coordinating with Oracle FEs for any hardware maintenance. Powering on/off DB nodes/ cell nodes for hardware maintenance like predictive DIMM failure or online disk replacement.
- Writing scripts to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Working with DBAs to review the usage metrics and recommend optimization of resources as part of consolidation.
- Performance monitoring using built-in Exadata tools OSwatcher
- Plan for and support semiannual BCP test.
ZFS Appliance
- Monitoring and supporting ZFS appliances for the Exadata platforms.
- Responsible for software and firmware ILOM patching for ZFS appliance.
- Enabling compression/encryption on ZFS and tuning for backup and recovery.
- Prepare for BCP – to backup and test/validate backups of Exadata image from bare metal
Solaris
- Provides UNIX System Administration support and capacity planning for UNIX-based systems in Solaris 11
- Support Solaris zones in high availability environment with VCS 8.x.
- Performs Solaris system hardware uninstall, server consolidation and end of lease migrations, in addition to patching.
- Monitors and maintains kernel/OS performance tuning of UNIX systems.
- Performs daily administration tasks (e.g. add, change, delete, file system and disk space management, backups and file restores).
- Interacts with IT and other systems staff or vendors in complex testing, operational support and troubleshoots system problems.
- Coordinates and performs regularly scheduled preventive maintenance (monthly system patching, applying fixes, infrastructure hardware migration).
Education and Qualifications
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and problem-solving skills.
- Minimum 5 years UNIX system administration experience Solaris and Exadata.
- Experience with Solaris 11, with ZFS, SMF, zones, server Jumpstart build, configuration, and upgrades
- Experience with Veritas Foundation Suite (Volume Manager, VxFS, Veritas Cluster File and VCS) and file system management.
- Excellent knowledge of UNIX utilities, scripting with UNIX shell.
- Provides production and development systems support (including off-hours and weekend support on a rotating basis). Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments. Team player and willing to work overtime and weekend when required.

Salary Range
$150K to $170K
BBH’s compensation program includes base salary, discretionary bonuses, and profit-sharing. The anticipated base salary range(s) shown above are only for the indicated location(s) and may differ in other locations due to cost of living and labor considerations. Base salaries may vary based on factors such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.
