Senior UI/UX Designer

Are you a strategic UI/UX professional with a portfolio of end-to-end digital work who is ready to own the complete digital experience for a growing South African telecoms brand? Join our Commercial team as a Senior UI/UX Designer in Plattekloof or Stellenbosch, where you will lead discovery, shape user flows, design new products from zero to one, and deliver developer-ready designs that turn business ideas into exceptional digital experiences.

This role is perfect for a senior designer who leads with research, governs a design system with care, and is as comfortable presenting design rationale to stakeholders as they are deep in Figma.

What you'll do:

• Lead discovery for new features and products, run design workshops and sprints, own the UX roadmap, and audit competitors for opportunities
• Take the first design lead on new Herotel products, brands and ventures: concept work, user flows, prototypes, validation and iteration
• Plan and run user research, usability testing, interviews and surveys, and use analytics and heatmaps to drive design decisions
• Own end-to-end user flows across the website, app and customer portal, including information architecture, micro-interactions, mobile-first patterns and wireframes
• Design and optimise digital acquisition and onboarding flows, run A/B tests and iterate on real conversion data
• Maintain end-to-end customer journey maps and use them to align Product, Marketing and Operations
• Govern the design system, components, tokens, standards and versioning, and keep all designs accessible to WCAG 2.1 AA
• Deliver annotated, developer-ready layouts and component states to the Front-End and UX/UI Developer and build teams

What you'll need:

• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in UI/UX design, digital design, interaction design or a related field; equivalent practical experience with a strong portfolio will be considered
• A UX certification is advantageous
• Five or more years in UI/UX or product design on digital products, with a portfolio showing end-to-end work including flows, research, prototypes and outcomes
• Proven experience designing web, mobile app and self-service portal experiences
• Advanced command of Figma including components, auto-layout, prototyping, design tokens and developer handoff
• Experience planning and running user research and usability testing and using analytics to inform design decisions
• Strong information architecture and interaction design skills, with working knowledge of HTML and CSS
• Experience working in agile teams alongside product managers and engineers
• Telecommunications, internet services or subscription experience is advantageous
• A strategic thinker who presents design decisions with clear rationale and manages multiple projects without dropping delivery
